Outlaws 2 and Dewease 2 after the
Champion Oil Summer Nationals
Written By: Brady Hilbert
The World of Outlaws Sprint Cars
invaded the Pennsylvania Posse at Williams Grove Speedway this past
weekend. After two more rounds of action the two rivals are
deadlocked at two apiece. The World of Outlaws were led by Daryn
Pittman all weekend long as he scored win #7 on the year Friday
night. The win gave Pittman a check worth $8,000 dollars and the
Outlaws second win of the season against the Posse.
Friday night saw Pittman draw a very late pill, however the former
Posse regular scored fast time of the night over the 38 car field.
Pittman went out in the second group for qualifying which sent him
out in the third heat on Friday night. The #9 came home second in
his heat and was sitting in the 6th starting spot prior to the dash
inversion. Pittman’s night was made when the #6 pill was drawn and
put him on the pole for the dash, Pittman drove away in the dash and
lined up on the pole for the 25 lap main event. The 25 lap main
event never really saw a challenger for Pittman, Posse legend Lance
Dewease drove from tenth to second, but, never really had anything
for Pittman Friday night. Dewease would go on to finish second with
Greg Hodnett rounding out the podium in third.
Saturday night saw the tables turn, but not really until lap 20 of
the 30 lap main event. Daryn Pittman scored quick time again for the
second night in a row. Pittman then went on to win his heat and
start on the pole for the dash. Posse fans did have a little hope,
however, because the Don Kreitz 69K was not starting tenth on
Saturday night. Dewease started outside row number two on Saturday
night. He timed in second quick and won his heat race by over six
seconds.
When the green flag dropped on Saturday night’s main event, it saw
Joey Saldana drive away from Daryn Pittman. For the first 10 laps or
so it looked a lot like Friday night’s race with Saldana driving
away from second place Pittman. However, unfortunately for Joey the
cautions started coming and the fans saw restart after restart in
the middle stages of the race. The lap 19 restart saw Joey spin the
tires coming off four and Lance drove around him on the outside and
quickly pulled away, but once again the yellow was flown for debris.
This gave Saldana the lead back and on the next restart Lance slid
up in front of Joey coming off turn four and never looked back.
However, coming off turn four for the checkered the yellow flag was
waving again with Aaron Ott spinning on the front stretch. Dewease
stopped in turn two following the yellow and was out of fuel,
however the decision for an open red had already been made. This
allowed the Fayetteville native to regain his first place starting
spot and drive away from the field on the green-white-checkered
finish with Daryn Pittman coming home second. The win was Dewease’s
fourth of the season at the grove and he himself has the two wins
against the outlaws this season for the Posse. The Don Krietz “Dream
Team” took home a hefty $25,000 dollars and the Morgan Cup stayed in
Central PA for at least one more year.
The 2016 Summer Nationals was a hot one and it took everyone by
surprise to see the cushion we saw at Williams Grove this weekend.
The drivers were very surprised and you have to give the track team
credit for getting all that water down before race time. The two
rivals will meet again for the Champion Racing Oil National Open,
weather permitting we will see the three day format be used for the
first time this season in late September. Lance Dewease is most
certainly the early favorite to win the $50,000 showdown at the
Cumberland County Oval, we will see over the next two months if a
team in Central PA can find a way around the 69k team.
Schatz and Dewease headline the
Summer Nationals and Morgan Cup

The month of money continues this
weekend for the World of Outlaws, as they make their second stop of
the season at the historic Williams Grove Speedway. The two day show
will see Saturday’s winner take home a hefty $25,000 with $5,000
coming from the suspended Morgan Cup back in May. Taking no
prisoners right now Donny Schatz will lead the greatest show on dirt
back into posse country, Schatz fresh off a Kings Royal win and a
second place run Tuesday at the Lernerville Speedway will look to
continue his recent success at the grove. For the local boys, they
will be led by Lance Dewease. Piloting the Don Kreitz 69K, Dewease
is coming off his third grove win just last Friday night at the
Outlaw tune up race.
These two will look to continue recent success at the Cumberland
County Oval, and neither one could have much more momentum than they
do right now. Schatz has had a bunch of top three finishes at the
grove dating back to last season. Including a 3rd place run in the
May 21st race earlier this year. It is also proven that when big
money is on the line, you can guarantee the bad boy off road #15
will be rolling. As for Lance Dewease, he is having a dream season.
It seems whenever this team hits the track they find themselves
taking the checkered. The 69K team is fresher than ever and just
picked up a first and a second place finish last weekend. The
Fayetville native led the posse to victory back in May against the
outlaws at the Grove. Dewease will be seeking his 86th career win at
the Grove and really closing in on that all time win mark set by
Fred Rahmer.
As for others as always Greg Hodnett
and Danny Dietrich are prime contenders to make some noise for the
Posse. David Gravel for the outlaws is really coming on and just
picked up his biggest win of the season at the Don Martin Memorial
Silver Cup at the Lernerville Speedway on Tuesday. Gravel also is
not afraid of the big races at the grove as he won the 2014 National
Open. Look for the CJB motorsports #5 to contend for wins at the
Grove this weekend.
Action is slated to begin at 7:30
both nights this weekend. Friday nights event will go 25 laps in
distance with $8,000 dollars to win. Saturday nights race will see
the winner take home the hefty $25,000 dollars and the coveted
Morgan Cup.
Big Weekend Ahead in Posse Country
Written By: Brady Hilbert
Coming straight off of last week’s
battle with the World of Outlaws, the Pennsylvania sprint car
regulars get no rest this week. This weekend, drivers will have the
chance to compete in four straight nights of action which all kicks
off at Williams Grove Speedway on Friday evening.
Williams Grove will host their
regular Friday night sprint car program with $4,000 to the driver
who takes the checkered flag. Fans can also see a firework display
if they spend their Friday night at Williams Grove. Things will then
turn very interesting as Port Royal hosts the Bob Weikert Memorial 3
day race weekend. Drivers will have the chance to compete in three
straight nights of action, which all starts Saturday night. Saturday
and Monday, drivers will have a chance to earn $5,000 dollars if
they get the win. The big payday will be on Sunday night, the driver
who earns the checkered flag will win a hefty $10,000 dollars.
Pennsylvania regulars won’t also just have to deal with their own
drivers, as some of the Arctic Cat All Stars will make their way in
to compete. Dale Blaney, Sheldon Haudenschild, and Danny Holtgraver
are among the names who are invading this weekend to race the Posse.

Favorites to win:
Anytime you go to Port Royal Greg Hodnett is a favorite to park it
in victory lane. Hodnett, coming off a strong week against the World
of Outlaws, Hodnett will look to get a win this weekend after a
second place finish Tuesday night at New Egypt Speedway. The Spring
Grove native has been as strong as ever to start of the 2016 season
and fans should expect nothing less this weekend.
Lucas Wolfe will also be a driver that could easily take a checkered
flag this weekend. Wolfe in need of a win, will have three shots at
it this weekend at Port Royal where he is the defending track
champion.
Gettysburg’s Danny Dietrich will also have a say in who takes home a
win this weekend. Danny has had a slow start to the season, but has
been coming on as of late. Dietrich had a strong two nights of
racing against the World of Outlaws with two top 5 finishes last
week. The Hard Charger will have a good shot at winning one this
weekend with four opportunities.
Drivers to Watch:
The All Star invaders Dale Blaney will be a guy to keep your eye on.
Blaney, who just picked off a win at Port Royal not long ago is
definitely a driver that can pick one off against the Posse. Blaney
will look to continue his recent success at Port Royal this weekend.
Lance Dewease and the Kreitz racing team will be a team everybody
will be watching. Even with a limit amount of track time, the device
has picked up three straight wins. Anybody with that kind of winning
streak will have all eyes on them. We will see if the team can keep
up with their recent dominance of Central Pennsylvania
This holiday weekend will feature
some great sprint car action, fans will get the chance to see a lot
of racing along with a great field of cars each night. Drivers that
didn’t have their best showing last week against the World of
Outlaws, will have a chance to rebound this weekend.
Central Pennsylvania Sprint Car Legends-Having one Dream Start to
the 2016 Season.

As you stood on the front stretch of Williams Grove Speedway on
Friday evening, May 21st, you could sense that this site
could become very familiar. As Lance Dewease climbed out of the Don
Kreitz Sharman Builders/Oval Parts/ Rvworkshop.com 69K it all became
reality. Dewease just capped off a dominating performance during the
World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series main event. The win
gave him his 83rd career win at the Cumberland County
oval, bringing him within 8 wins of tying the 91 win record mark set
by Fred Rahmer. After a Donny Schatz wire to wire win at the
Lincoln Speedway in Abbottstown, Pennsylvania on Thursday night,
Dewease evened the score at one a piece against the World of
Outlaws by dominating the 25 lap $8,000 to win main event.
“This thing is just a blessing to drive”
Dewease said. “I know I say it every time, but I can’t thank Donny
and Linda Kreitz enough for giving me this opportunity”.
The 2015 Sprint Car Season was a tough
year for both Don Krietz and Lance Dewease. Dewease struggled, he
and his race team just could not find victory lane. Dewease went on
to go winless at Williams Grove, which for Dewease is in unfamiliar
territory. For the other, Don Kreitz, his year was ended by what any
driver never wants to face. Kreitz’s career was ended by concussion
symptoms that were just too risky to climb back into the cockpit of
a 410 sprinter. Kreitz had Justin Henderson fill in to drive the 69k
at the National Open in 2015. Henderson drove the car to a fourth
place run.
After a rough 2015 season for both
drivers, many would wonder whether or not they would ever see the
baby blue 69K hit the speedway again. Others would wonder if Lance
Dewease would find another ride. The two wheelmen decided to come
together and join forces in the off-season for a limited schedule in
2016 and have wasted no time in finding victory lane.
In just a handful of trips to the track
this season, Dewease driving for Donnie Kreitz have picked up three
wins. Two wins in a row coming at Williams Grove Speedway, the
Kreitz team also picked up a win at Susquehanna Speedway on May 8th.
Dewease also recorded a second place run at Susquehanna Speedway
after starting 13th in that main event a few weeks ago.
After their win at Williams Grove on May 13th,
Dewease stated “when this opportunity came I jumped at it, this has
been one of the best cars around forever”.
The duo could not have united at a
better time, both coming off devastating seasons in 2015 leaving
them to wonder if they will ever reach success again at the track.
Dewease has taken full advantage of driving for Don Kreitz. We all
know that Donald would love to be behind the wheel still racing his
own car, but what a consolation prize. As I looked in the hauler on
Friday night before the drivers meeting you could see the
relationship that these two share. Dewease and Kreitz were sitting
on a tire talking and laughing, looking like they were having fun.
Lance and the team capped off an amazing
3 weeks with an almost perfect Friday night. After timing in second
quick and then winning his heat race, Dewease would start third in
the dash. Dewease finished where he started and had the inside row
two starting spot for the 25 lap main event. Dewease fell back to
fourth at the beginning of the race, but then came on around lap 7.
He drove by Joey Saldana and then pulled a wicked slider on Daryn
Pittman for second on lap 8. Dewease then got a good run coming off
two leading to another great slider on fellow posse member Greg
Hodnett on lap 9, Dewease then put the famous baby blue 69K on the
bottom and pulled away from the field claiming the 25 lapper
sanctioned by the World of Outlaw Craftsman Spint Car Series.
Dewease and Kreitz plan on running select shows for
2016 most of them located at Williams Grove and Susquehanna
Speedway. The team will travel to Port Royal Speedway for the Bob
Weikert Memorial this weekend, competing in the Saturday and Sunday
shows. Even with the limited track time this season, the team is
becoming a favorite to park it on the front stretch every night. The
team will look to continue their dominance throughout the summer
months as the big money shows quickly approach.
