LUCAS OIL Series

Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series to Sanction the 31st Annual Dirt Track World Championship Hosted by K-C Raceway in Ohio for 2011

Waycross, GA (January 22, 2011) - The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series and famed promoter Carl Short are pleased to announce that an agreement has been reached to sanction the 31st Annual Dirt Track World Championship for the next three years, making the crown jewel event the Lucas Oil Series grand finale. Not only will the $50,000 to win DTWC be sanctioned by the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series in 2011, but also the event will move to a familiar venue, back to the state of Ohio to K-C Raceway in Chillicothe. The DTWC sanctioned by the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series will take place on October 13th, 14th, 15th of 2011 and be back at the racetrack that hosted the event in the past with great success. Earl Pearson Jr. is the defending champion of the DTWC, winning the event at West Virginia Motor Speedway in Mineral Wells, West Virginia in 2010.

With the Carl Short owned Hillbilly 100 already sanctioned by the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series, it was a natural fit for Carl to sanction the DTWC with the LOLMDS. "After weighing all the factors I felt the time was right to sanction the DTWC with Lucas Oil. With the tremendous success we've had the past several years with sanctioning the Hillbilly 100 with Lucas Oil, and how well they run the show, the support and marketing benefits within their organization, the professional staff, and everything they can bring to an event, it just makes good business sense to partner with a great company like Lucas Oil", stated Carl Short.

Carl Short has developed a great relationship with Jeff and Vickie Schrader, owners of KC Raceway and is very impressed on how they have taken over that facility and run it since purchasing the track in 2009. K-C Raceway is a fast 3/8-mile dirt track located just east of Cincinnati, Ohio and runs both super late model and winged sprint cars throughout the year. To learn more about K-C Raceway you can visit their official website at www.kc-raceway.com.

In addition to sanctioning the event by the LOLMDS, Appliancezone.com has come on board as the title sponsor of the DTWC presented by Lucas Oil for 2011. This event will be one of the most "must attend" dirt late model events of the year in 2011. Jim Allen, CEO of Appliance Zone has some big things in store for this race and for dirt late model fans for the entire 2011 season. More big announcements are coming, related to this event and the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series.

"We have a great relationship with Carl and the Hillbilly 100 and now were excited to be a part of such a great event as the DTWC. To have his $50,000 to win DTWC and all the history of the event on our schedule gives our series a huge platform to end the season on and crown our champion. We are also thrilled to have Jim Allen and his company ApplianceZone.com supports this event and the series in 2011. ApplianceZone has some big things in store for 2011 and we're excited about their support and enthusiasm for dirt late model racing", stated Ritchie Lewis, series director.

With the addition of the DTWC event to the series final event there will be a slight change to the schedule for the Dixie Shootout Weekend at Dixie Speedway on October 7-8th. The Dixie Shootout presented by Lucas Oil at Dixie Speedway will now go back to a one day $10,000 to win event on Saturday October 8th. Then on Sunday October 9th the series will go back to Rome Speedway for the "Rome Rumble" paying $10,000 to win, moving that event from the July 10th date that was originally on the 2011 schedule.

"Of course I have to thank my wife Katrina, my mother Georgie, and my daughter Ariel, they couldn't make it to all the races, but I just want to thank them for being there for me and for their help with the souvenir trailer. A special thanks goes to the promoters for having Lucas Oil events and all the fans that came out to support us. This was our 30th year of racing and it feels good to cap it off with a championship."

"The sponsors we have have played such a significant role in our success over the years and this year was no exception. I have to thank Allstar Performance, Sweet Manufacturing, VP Racing Fuels, Hoosier Tires, Arizona Sports Shirts, Lane Automotive, Roush-Yates Racing Engines, Ohlins, and all the rest of our product sponsors that help us out, we appreciate all of you."

By far, the Lucas Oil Series has the best TV package right now of any dirt-racing series," said Bloomquist who noted that he will be back to try for a three-peat in 2011.

"I went with a little softer left rear tire than anybody else, O'Neal was strong early on, but once we were able to get some heat in the tire we were able to catch him and get by him," said Clanton. "I have to give a big thanks to Marshall Green for this win; he came over before the feature and changed some things on the car. He has a lot of laps here, and the changes he made are why we are here in victory lane. I want to thank Rocket Chassis, Brad Malcuit at Malcuit Race Engines, RSD Enterprises, SAE Parts, VP, and Allstar Performance for their support. It's good to get a win here in front of the homestate crowd."

Scott Bloomquist Wins Fifth Dixie Shootout and Clinches 2010 Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series Title

WOODSTOCK, GA (October 9,2010) - Scott Bloomquist of Mooresburg, TN clinched his second consecutive Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series National Title by winning his fifth Lucas Oil "Dixie Shootout" on Saturday Night at Dixie Speedway.  The 46-year-old Hall of Famer also collected the 501st win of his career and his eighth national driving championship.  Bloomquist led the final 41 laps to take the $10,000 first place prize ahead of a late-race charge from Shane Clanton of Fayetteville, GA; Chris Madden of Gaffney, SC; 16th starting Shannon Babb of Moweaqua, IL; and Jimmy Owens of Newport, TN, who finished fifth, after John Blankenship weighed-in light at the scales.

"This is what we worked for all year long, to win this Lucas Oil Championship again," said Bloomquist, who recorded his season-leading ninth win.  "I have to thank my crew and my sponsors for their help all year. My family has been great through all of this, and the championships and such are something to look back on someday when you're retired. I have to thank Miller Brothers Construction, Hawkeye Trucking, VP Fuels, Hoosier Tires, and Allstar Performance and of course. I'd also like to thank Roush-Yates Engines, the motor was super once again," said the winner who pilots his own Bloomquist Race Cars Chevrolet.

"Earl fired off real good at the start, I am not sure what tires he had on, but he was running up in the rough and I knew if he kept doing that the tires couldn't take the punishment and he eventually had the flat. We tried to be smooth from then on after what happened to Pearson, I tried to stay lower than the cushion and it worked out good, I didn't know how much of a lead I had, but we're glad to wrap up the title with this win. Now we can relax heading to Rome, knowing it's sewed up," said Bloomquist who captured his all-time series leading 26th win.

Bloomquist and 4-time series champion, Earl Pearson Jr. started on the front row of the event held before one of the largest crowds since the 1990's for the Shootout.  Pearson bolted to the lead and led the first eight circuits until he developed a right rear flat tire under caution.  Pearson pitted for a new tire, but he was relegated to the rear of the field for the restart.

Bloomquist inherited the lead after Pearson's misfortune as he led Clanton, Madden, Don O'Neal and Randy Weaver to the green flag. O'Neal, who was solid early on in the race, started to fade with right front suspension problems on his car as he yielded to Weaver and Steve Francis in the running order.

Bloomquist had a six-car length lead over Clanton as the final caution flew on lap 36 when Steve Casebolt contacted the front stretch wall.  On the restart Clanton was not about to give up the chase for his first career Shootout victory.  Clanton made one-last lap ditch effort as he closed to a car length and a half on Bloomquist, but Bloomquist held him off.

7TH LUCAS OIL LATE MODEL KNOXVILLE NATIONALS THE 66 TOP DRIVERS + $246,000 PURSE = ACTION! Speed Will Televise Event on Oct 23 @ 6PM

Corona, Calif. (September 29, 2010) - - In the first six years that the Lucas Oil Late Model Nationals has run at the historic Knoxville Raceway it’s become “…Much more than just a race,” Says Tom Schmeh, the Curator of the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame and Museum located just outside turn 2 at the Marion County facility. “This event is now the second-largest of the year for Knoxville,” said Schmeh. The raceway, which opened in 1914, just celebrated the 50th running of its Knoxville Nationals for Sprint Cars.

For this September 30 – October 1-2 running of the Lucas Oil-sponsored Late Model event the entry has been strictly limited to the 66 top Late Model drivers in the country which qualifies this three day gathering as a true “all-star” race if ever there was one.

Just a quick look at the entry list* shows a galaxy of driving superstars that starts with all-time Dirt Late Model champ Scott Bloomquist, and includes the like of Billy Moyer, Ryan Newman, Ken Schrader, and Tony Stewart, all coming back to their roots at Knoxville which means screaming sideways around the ioconic circular clay oval.

And, if being the best of the best in a group of drivers that includes all of the above and sixty-one other champions isn’t enough, there’s a pot that’s only a few bucks shy of quarter million dollars (that’s $246,000.00 written out in numbers). Big time pride and plenty of bucks on the line: that’s an iron-clad, sure-fire formula for three days of old-school, kick-that-tail-end-out dirt track racing!

Which leads us to the good news for fans who won’t be able to make the trip to the place that they call “The Dirt Track Racin’ Capitol of the World”:

The 7th Annual Lucas Oil Late Model Nationals will be covered and seen on SPEED TV. They’ve “only” got about 20,000 or so seats at the track at Knoxville and it looks like they’ll all be spoken for, so getting the word out to fans about the TV show is paramount. And, best news of all is that this one is a two hour special of the final day of the event.

Please, if you will, give the faithful the word: The biggest Dirt Late Model race of the year is on Speed: Saturday, October 23 at 6PM (as always viewers are advised to please check their local listings, and not to miss this clash of the best Late Model drivers in captivity!)

*fans are, of course, invited to check out the whole incredible 66-driver list at: www.knoxvilleraceway.com and the many other Lucas Oil motorsports offerings at www.lucasoil.com.

PLEASE ADD:

NATIONAL SPRINT CAR HALL OF FAME PARTNERS WITH NATIONAL DIRT LATE MODEL HALL OF FAME AT LUCAS OIL LATE MODEL KNOXVILLE NATIONALS

KNOXVILLE, IOWA (September 12, 2010) - Once a year, the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame in Knoxville, Iowa, partners with the National Dirt Late Model Hall of Fame in Florence, Kentucky, and for 2010, it will occur on September 30-October 1-2 during the seventh annual Lucas Oil Late Model Knoxville Nationals.

This year, the National Sprint Car Museum will increase its number of offerings for dirt late model stock car fans that week with its line-up of stock car-related films in the theater, “OctobeerFast” wine- and beer-tasting reception, “Stocksville Reunion” of past Knoxville Raceway late model stock car winners, “Preserving Late Model Stock Car Racing History in the Upper Midwest” forum, and silent and live memorabilia auctions.

According to National Sprint Car Museum curator Tom Schmeh, “This three-day event has relatively quickly become Knoxville Raceway’s second biggest show of the year, following its Knoxville Nationals for winged 410-cubic-inch sprint cars. We have partnered with Bill Holder, Bob Markos and the National Dirt Late Model Hall of Fame from day one with our auction, with them receiving a portion of the proceeds, but this year we wanted to step up our other events.

1977 Knoxville Fall Jamboree winner Curt Hansen of Dike, Iowa, and 2007 Lucas Oil Late Model Knoxville Nationals winner Brady Smith of Solon Springs, Wisconsin, are the first two drivers to confirm their participation in our inaugural ‘Stocksville Reunion’ event, while the Peace Tree Brewing Company of Knoxville, the Corning Winery and the Covered Bridges Winery in Winterset have signed on for our ‘OctobeerFast’ celebration.

And historians Lee Ackerman, Barry Johnson and Mike O’Connor have agreed to be panelists on our “Preserving Late Model Stock Car Racing History in the Upper Midwest” forum. Combined with our silent auctions on Thursday and Friday, and our annual live auction on Saturday led by auctioneer Lynn Richard and emcee Kathy Krafka Harkema, I think we will truly be offering something for everyone!”

Those seeking more information on the National Sprint Car Museum’s Octoberfest events, which are again being held in conjunction with the seventh annual Lucas Oil Late Model Knoxville Nationals, should visit www.sprintcarhof.com.

Wall and Owens Lead in Appliancezone Points Standings Heading to Final Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series Events

CORONA, CA (September 28, 2010) -The Appliance Zone sponsorship competition has been a great success in 2010 and is heading into the final two events of the year in the state of Georgia on October 9th and 10th. The final two events at Dixie Speedway and Rome Speedway will be instrumental in deciding which driver will receive the $70,000 sponsorship from Appliance Zone for the 2011-racing season.

Chris Wall and Jimmy Owens continue to lead the two point's categories under the Appliance Zone sponsorship contest with Wall leading the fan voting portion and Owens leading the on-track point's category among the five drivers. Appliance Zone reps have set up a booth at several Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series events and during the World 100 at Eldora Speedway in 2010 for fans to vote for their favorite driver during the season. Fans can also go online and vote for the driver he or she think deserves the 2011 sponsorship. Simply visit either www.appliancezoneracing.com or www.lucasdirt.com and click on the banner that is linked to the fan-voting page.

The five LOLMDS drivers that were selected by Appliancezone.com are competing for the $70,000 primary sponsorship for the 2011-racing season. Jimmy Owens, Ray Cook, Don O'Neal, Chris Wall, and Steve Casebolt all are trying to win this unique contest. The criteria for winning the sponsorship are divided into three categories: on-track performance (points earned), fan voting at www.appliancezoneracing.com, and by a special panel vote from members of the media, Lucas Oil Products, Appliance Zone, and NASCAR drivers Clint Boyer and Bobby Labonte.

For fans wanting to vote for their favorite driver, voting will continue until midnight October 10th. After fan voting has been closed, the website will be cut off and all fan votes will be totaled to determine which driver won the fan voting. After the final event at Rome Speedway on October 10th, the on-track points will be totaled up among the five drivers to determine which driver won that point's category as well. From that point, the special panel will determine which of the two drivers that won the fan vote portion and the on-track points category will receive the $70,000 sponsorship from Appliance Zone. All five drivers will receive a cash award at the series year-end banquet from Appliance Zone for participating in the contest this year.

"We are thrilled on how well this contest has worked this year with the five drivers. They are all deserving of the sponsorship for their efforts and we really have enjoyed getting to know each one of them this year. We're looking forward to the series' Championship banquet and announcing the winner of the $70,000 sponsorship. The Lucas Oil Series has really been great to work with and we can't wait to see the Appliance Zone car win some races on the Lucas tour in 2011," stated Jim Allen of Appliancezone.com.

Appliance Zone representatives will make the announcement and presentation to the driver that won the 2011 sponsorship at the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series year-end awards banquet on November 20th at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, IN. The Appliance Zone Company, based in Corydon, Indianais the fastest growing company in the online appliance parts industry. Appliancezone.com offers a wide variety of appliance parts for many of the top manufacturers of appliances, so the consumer can find and purchase any appliance part to fix and repair their current appliances.

The five drivers competing for the 2011 sponsorship will display Appliance Zone decals for the remainder of the 2010 season and a link to the fan voting page will remain on the LOLMDS website and each driver's website. A special Appliance Zone point's page is listed on the series website for fans to keep up with the accumulated points after each event. Bloomquist Takes 500th Career Victory at

Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series Jackson 100

BROWNSTOWN, IN (September 25, 2010) - Hall-of-Fame driver, Scott Bloomquist of Mooresburg, TN won the 500th feature event of his illustrious career on Saturday Night in capturing the 31st Annual Jackson 100 at Brownstown (IN) Speedway.  Bloomquist earned $20,000 for his third win in the annual event, which was sanctioned by the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series.  Bloomquist took the lead on lap four after starting third.  Seeking to become the first four-time winner of the race, Don O'Neal of Martinsville, IN finished second just ahead of Jimmy Owens of Newport, TN.  Completing the top five were Matt Miller of Waterville, OH and Chris Wall of Springfield, LA.

"I have to thank so many people for getting to 500 wins, I wish Bob and Barb Miller were here to see this, they have been such an important part of my career. My wife, daughter, and my mom are here so I am glad they got to see this," said the 46-year-old driver.  "To win number 500 here at Brownstown is special, it has been one of my favorite tracks to run on in my career, somebody said we got our 200th win here in 1991. The first time I came here I don't think I even made the race, the locals were so tough here to beat and with all the traveling guys racing it was quite a chore just to get into the field."

Bloomquist, who started in third in the 100-lap affair, took the lead on lap four from O'Neal.  Owens took over the second spot on lap six and challenged Bloomquist for the lead up until lap eleven when O'Neal passed him.  O'Neal then picked the pace as the top three put on quite a show for the race lead.

Bloomquist entered heavy traffic by lap 26 until a caution on lap 40 left Bloomquist with a clear track in front of him.  On the restart Bloomquist pulled away from O'Neal and Owens as he set sail.  Bloomquist saw a 12-car length lead shrink down to one length with 25 laps to go as he was having trouble negotiating lapped traffic.

Bloomquist worked his way through more lapped cars, and put plenty of distance between himself and O'Neal when the checkers flew.  With the win, Bloomquist stretched his lead in Lucas Oil Championship Points Standings to 260 points over Owens.  Bloomquist was in his own self-designed chassis and is sponsored by Miller Brothers Construction, Hawkeye Trucking, and Sweet Mfg. A Roush-Yates Racing Engine powers his car.

O'Neal was 2nd in the Independence Lumber, Roush-Yates, MasterSbilt Chevrolet; followed closely at the stripe by Owens in the Reece Monument Company, Gantte Appraisals, Bloomquist Race Cars Ford.

Miller, the 2007 winner of the Jackson 100 came home fourth just in front of Wall, who maintains his Quarter Master "Rookie of the Year" points lead with an impressive fifth place run.

Completing the top ten were; Bart Hartman of Zanesville, OH; Jeep VanWormer of Pinconning, MI; Earl Pearson Jr. of Jacksonville, FL; Dan Schlieper of Sullivan, WI; and 14-year-old Tyler Reddick of Corning, CA.

In preliminary action on Saturday Night, Heat Race winners were Don O'Neal, Scott Bloomquist, Chris Wall, and Jimmy Owens.  Zack Dohm and Donnie Moran took the B-Mains.

Series Announcer, James Essex, of Hope, IN was inducted into the Brownstown Speedway Hall of Fame during the intermission prior to the 100-lap main event. Essex began announcing for the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series in its first year, and has become the famous "Voice of the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series". He began his career when he was 14 years old at Brownstown Speedway, and announced there for the next 21 years before taking to the highways and announcing on the national dirt late model touring circuits.

The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series will conclude it's 2010 racing season with two events in the State of Georgia.  On Saturday Night, October 9th the Lucas Oil "Dixie Shootout" at Dixie Speedway in Woodstock, GA awaits the stars of the LOLMDS.  The Lucas Oil Shootout will be shot in front of the cameras of SPEED for broadcast at a later date. It all comes down to the Lucas Oil "Rome Showdown on Sunday Night, October 10th, to decide who will win the 2010 Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series National Title.  Both events will pay $10,000 to win.

Davenport Sweeps State of Virginia with Win in USA 100 at Virginia Motor Speedway

SALUDA, VA  (September 18, 2010) - Jonathan Davenport of Blairsville, GA completed the weekend sweep in the Commonwealth State of Virginia as he captured the $15,000 to win ASI Racewear 31st Annual "USA 100" on Saturday Night at Virginia Motor Speedway.  Davenport's win marked his second Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series victory in two nights.  Friday Night he captured the win at Winchester Speedway.  Trailing Davenport to the finish line were current series point's leader, Scott Bloomquist of Mooresburg, TN and 4-time series champion, Earl Pearson Jr. of Jacksonville, FL.  Completing the top five were Steve Shaver of Vienna, WV and Dale McDowell of Chickamauga, GA.

"To win one Lucas Oil event this weekend was special, but to back it up here tonight with a win against this type of competition is just fantastic," said the 26-year-old racer.  "The car was fast all night, we came out and broke the track record, won our heat and I tried a couple of different lines out there in the feature, the car was just a dream to drive, to beat drivers like Bloomquist, Pearson, Owens and so on is just terrific, they are all great drivers and to race against them it is an honor."

"I have to thank Barry and Lance Wright for giving me the opportunity to drive their equipment, thanks to all my sponsors for making this possible, Nichols Plumbing, Dirtwrap, Baird Transport, Elite Concrete, Mega Plumbing of the Carolinas and all my product sponsors, we are really on a roll right now and we hope to continue to finish the season strong," said Davenport who earned $25,000 for his two victories.

Davenport started quickly and took the lead at the start of the 50-lap finale.  Davenport had to be patient through the caution periods that dotted the event.  He had to hold off both Bloomquist and Pearson at various times during the race, but in the end he had the best car all race long as he pulled away in the final ten laps to score his second career Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series triumph.

A spirited battle the entire distance between Bloomquist and Pearson saw the two previous LOLMDS National Champs go toe-to-toe for second.  Bloomquist was able to challenge Davenport early on as Pearson put the heat on Davenport during the mid-portion of the race.

Bloomquist, who is seeking to win his 500th career race, beat Pearson into turn number one after a lap 37 restart.  Bloomquist was able to fight off everything that Pearson threw at him in the final 13 circuits to finish second in his Miler Brothers Construction, Roush-Yates Racing Engines, Bloomquist Race Cars Chevrolet.  Pearson was a close third in the Bobby Labonte Racing, Lucas Oil Products, Longhorn Chassis Dodge Charger.

Completing the top ten were Jimmy Owens of Newport, TN;  D.J. Myers of Greencastle, PA; Eric Wells of Hazard, KY; Ray Cook of Brasstown, NC; and John Blankenship of Williamson, WV.

In preliminary action Davenport set a new track record of 16.731 seconds among the 42 entrants.  The previous track record was held by Shane Clanton at 17.097 which was set in April of 2007.  The 25-lap preliminary heat race winners were Scott Bloomquist and Jonathan Davenport.  The B-Mains went to Jamie Lathroum and Booper Bare.

The next Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series event will be on Friday and Saturday, September 24th and 25th at Brownstown Speedway in Brownstown, IN.  The 31st Annual "Jackson 100" will be contested with $20,000 on the line.  The track's website address is www.brownstownspeedway.com.
