| Agan, Jon | Boyd and Lisa Burnham of Burnham Racing Enterprise (BRE) announce Jon Agan, from Knoxville, Iowa, will drive their No. 54 sprint car in 2009. Since beginning competition at Knoxville Raceway in 2000, Burnham Racing Enterprise has reached victory lane four times. In 2008, the team claimed one feature win and a top-five finish in the season-long point battle. Agan, 29, returned to sprint car racing in 2008 after two years away from the cockpit. In a limited schedule, Agan posted impressive results including numerous podium finishes, multiple heat race wins, two Hard Charger awards, and broke the Knoxville Raceway 10-lap track record for the 360 sprint car division. Agan finished 8th in the season-long point battle while only competing in 75 percent of the races held at Knoxville Raceway. “I am truly excited about joining Burnham Racing Enterprise,” said Agan. “We have already begun our preparation for the upcoming season, and our resources are strong. The Morton, Illinois hotshoe announces today that the team will be in competition when the O’Reilly All Star Circuit of Champions kicks off their 2009 campaign in Florida. There has been no rest for Mike during his off-season. Mike and his crew have been working on several projects since the season ended in October 2008. The last project, and the one that the team is the most excited about, is working on getting a second car added to the racing team. | Ely, Dave | As the 2009 racing season approaches, many changes are on the horizon for Gene Franckowiak’s Racing Team and driver Dave Ely. The new season will bring a return to the Central Pennsylvania 410 sprint car scene for Ely. The team plans on racing Williams Grove and Port Royal Speedways along with various other special events. The schedule will probably consist of close to fifty races. The team has recently acquired the sponsorship of The Shawn Martin Agency, a State Farm Agent from Logan Twp, NJ. Agent Shawn Martin is no stranger to central Pennsylvania racing having owned various stock cars at the local speedways and growing up in the area. Recently, Martin was the main sponsor for Chris Coyle’s 2008 URC Sprint Car effort. Ely stated, “I started to get the itch to go back 410 racing just this past summer. Gene has worked really hard to get us the parts and pieces we feel we need to compete and the addition of Shawn’s help should be a huge asset. My dad has been working real hard already getting parts and pieces made so we’re prepared for ’09. Having been there before, we’re going in with our eyes wide open but look forward to the challenge.” Veteran crew chief Mike Ely will continue to turn the wrenches on the Wolfweld Chassis powered by Rider Engines machine. The team will utilize DMI Sprint Car Components and Bulldog Rears. Returning to the team will be the familiar #3 that Ely and Franckowiak used the first 5 years they were together. | Skinner, Marshall | Marshall Skinner of West Memphis Ar. is teaming up with Stinson Racing of Memphis Tn. for the 360 portion of the flordia races starting next week. Marshall will be contending for the King of the 360 Crown after taking a year off from this race in 08. Marshall was the 1999 USCS National Champion and was the 2008 runner-up behind veteran Terry Gray. Marshall is hoping the ride will continue on throughout the 2009 racing season. | Strange, Billy Jr | At the end of the 2008, Billy Strange and the Strange Motorsports team developed a plan for the 2009 season. In short, they wanted to compete at Placerville Speedway for points and pick up any other races that fit in the budget for 2009. As tracks released their schedules, Billy looked at what made the most sense dollar wise and seat time. Strange Motorsports has released their 2009 schedule tentatively made up of 30 races. The season will start with Marysville Raceway Park's Open Show on March 7th and close at MRP on October 9th and 10th for another Open Show. The team will race at all Placerville point shows and the majority of the Civil War races as well. In the mix will also be some appearances at MRP point shows and of course the Pacific Sprint Fall Nationals at Silver Dollar Speedway in Chico, California. | Sell, Derek | Sell Racing will be a new 358 team in Central PA just arriving from AZ. Derek Sell will be fielding a Maxim chassis and Don Ott 358 primarily at Lincoln and Trail ways in 2009. Current plans are to transition into 410s in 2010. We recently moved to PA from AZ where Manzanita was our home track. Derek debuted as a sprint car rookie at age 14 early in 2008 with the ASCS Canyon Region 360 non wing. Derek competed in 12 races before we made the move here to PA in late summer. We are currently preparing our two cars for the 09 season and want to thank those local racers that have already made us feel welcome. After a banner year in 2008 which saw the Bellefontaine, Ohio native be the first ever to pick up the Limaland Motorsports Park track championship, the NRA Invaders Series title, and the King of the Quarter Mile all in the same year; JR Stewart will again drive for Ron Hammons in 2009.
