WORLD DIRT RACING LEAGUE ANNOUNCES IT’S SHUTTING DOWN

Series president Jim Wilson thanks everyone for eight years of loyal support

By Phil Roberts Media Coordinator WORLD Dirt Racing League

Gilman City, Mo. (Feb. 5, 2010) -- The WORLD Dirt Racing League (WDRL) is sorry to announce that its Late Model touring series is discontinuing business operations, effective at once. Series president Jim Wilson made the announcement today.

"We hated to have to make this announcement because of the loyalty of the race fans, race teams and racetracks that we have been fortunate to race at each year," he said. "We have a lot of friends out there who will be missed tremendously, and we wish them all the best of luck. For all of these reasons, shutting down the series was a very hard decision to make."

The idea for WDRL was developed in late 2001 by Wilson and his wife Nancy after NASCAR made the decision to discontinue its All-Star Series, which Jim Wilson directed, after 17 years of operation. WDRL began its eight-year run in 2002.

"I had many drivers and promoters come to me after the word was out that the All-Star Series would no longer be in existence," said Wilson. "They asked me to start my own touring series to keep a Dirt Late Model tour going in the Midwest. I decided to resign from NASCAR at that time and do it.

"After working for NASCAR for 20 years, the only way that I knew or even wanted to run a racing program, was to run it professionally and with professionally trained officials. We hired the best officials we could find to run the race programs at the WDRL races. I thank Mark Ludwig, Ron Streger, Art Daufeldt, Rusty Daufeldt, Phil Roberts, Chris Hansen, Dean and Shirley Howe, Mable McCuen, Eldon Wilson, Tom Lathen, Steve Pauley, Cheryl Hutchinson, Bucky Doren and others for their part of making the WDRL a professionally run series. These officials didn't all work with us at the same time but were all instrumental in making the WDRL the best-run short track series in the United States."

Wilson adds: "In the eight years that we operated WDRL, we never had one complaint of unfair treatment and never had one injury that was serious enough to turn in for insurance. That tells me the officials were doing their jobs in treating all teams the same and making sure the race cars were as safe as possible.

"We lost our title sponsor, PolyDome, in 2008 due to circumstances beyond their control, and we were never able to pick up another. I thank Dick and Karla and Dan and Pam Johanneck of PolyDome for their six years of sponsorship and for all they have done for us and for short track racing through their sponsorship.

"I thank Jim Groves of Iowa-Illinois Taylor Insulation for his sponsorship for each year of the WDRL. Jim and Julie Groves supported WDRL from Day One and are great friends as well as being great supporting sponsors.

"I want to say thanks to Lee Havlik and Josh Anderson of Chase Signs and Graphics for their sponsorship from the beginning of the WORLD Dirt Racing League and for all they have done for us and for racing. They are the ones who designed the WDRL logo for us.

"I thank Hoosier Racing Tires for their continued sponsorship," Wilson said. "I realize that our competitors are spending money with them, but they have been willing to put something back in. They have also been with us from the beginning.

"We thank all of the sponsors of WDRL. They have all been generous to our racing teams, and we appreciate that. I want to thank the fans of WDRL. We have received a lot of supportive e-mails and letters over the years and a lot of nice things were said to us after races, and we appreciate each and every one of those comments. We have some great fans."

Wilson also thanked members of the media for their dedicated coverage of the series.

"We want to thank the racing teams who have supported the WORLD Dirt Racing League and have traveled all over the Midwest with us for the last eight years. These guys have all been a pleasure to work with and have been willing to work with us in any way we asked them to.

"Last but not least I want to thank the promoters and the race tracks who have supported WDRL by promoting WDRL races. We have been able to meet some new faces as well as work with some we've known for years, and it has been quite a ride," Wilson said.

Wilson concluded, "What Nancy and I are going to do in the future is up in the air right now. I am too young to retire and am not even thinking about doing that. We have some irons in the fire, and we will keep everyone posted. Again thanks to everyone who has been involved in the WORLD Dirt Racing League. We hope you enjoyed this series as much as we enjoyed doing it."

FASTRAK NORTHEAST LATE MODEL TOURING SERIES SET FOR RECORD 20-EVENT 2010 SLATE; AT LEAST 16 WEEKLY-SANCTIONED TRACKS SET FOR ACTION

By Mike Leone

February 5, 2010

Pulaski, PA…The FASTRAK Northeast Late Model Touring Series is set to embark on its fourth season of action and co-directors Vicki Emig and Mike Leone have announced the tentative 2010 schedule of events.

Thus far a record 20 events make up the Touring Series slate, which will occur at 12 speedways throughout western and central Pennsylvania, eastern Ohio, northern West Virginia, and western New York. Currently there are 12 $1,200 to-win shows, three $1,500 to-win mains, two $2,000 to-win events, and one $3,000, $5,000, and $6,000 to-win features. This is in addition to Night 1 of the Grand Nationals at Mercer Raceway Park on October 2.

“We can’t express how excited we are about the upcoming season,” stated Emig. “The schedule has just come together wonderfully and we really have to thank the tracks and racers for believing in this concept. All of our weekly-sanctioned tracks have just been super to work and coordinating these dates so we can maximize car counts. The growth of this Series annually is just astounding. In 2007 we started with four weekly tracks and 12 Touring events. That number grew to five weekly tracks and 15 Touring events in 2008, and then last year to nine weekly tracks and 17 Touring shows. Now here we are at 16 weekly tracks and 20 Touring events and as we speak there is still more interest out there!”

The FASTRAK Northeast Touring Series is coming off a record-breaking season where 15 of the 17 events were completed in 2009. A total of 138 cars competed in these events with an average car count of 32 per event. David Scott became the third Series champion joining Alan Dellinger and Max Blair.

The 2010 champion will again receive a minimum of $5,000. In 2007, an approximate $10,000 point fund was paid. That number rose 50% in 2008 to an approximate $15,000 point fund. This past season, the amount grew to $17,200 in cash with near $19,000 including contingencies. In 2009, the top 12 racers received cash with contingencies going to 13-15. If the support is there, the points paying positions could grow to 15 in 2010.

Due to a scheduling conflict in the summer, the season will open up with back-to-back appearances at Tyler County Speedway on Saturday, April 17 and May 1 for $1,500 to-win each. The first will be part of the track’s topless event.

The first of two straight events in the Buckeye State begins at Raceway 7 on Friday, May 21 then the following weekend, Sharon Speedway will host their first of three events on the Saturday of Memorial Day Weekend on May 29. Last year’s race was a stellar one with Mike Pegher, Jr. capturing the win over a 37-car field.

The first of two National FASTRAK events for the Northeast Region will take place on Saturday, June 19, as longtime FASTRAK supporter, McKean County Raceway, will hold their largest event ever for the division with $5,000 up for grabs.

The following day, the cars and stars of FASTRAK will head south to Clearfield County for the first time ever at “The Big Track”- Central PA Speedway on June 20. The event will be an interesting one on neutral ground and should draw a strong field of cars, as no other FASTRAK event will be held this night.

New track owner Rick Jones will bring in the FASTRAK Northeast Touring Series to Roaring Knob Motorsports Complex on Saturday, June 26 for the first of two events. Last year’s first ever Touring Series event at Roaring Knob was won by Bobby Powell as 17 invaders made the trek down to take on Roaring Knob’s regulars at the scenic facility.

For the second straight year, FASTRAK played to a huge packed grandstands at Expo Speedway at the Trumbull County Fairgrounds. Past winners include Powell and Blair. This year’s event is tentatively scheduled for Wednesday, June 30.

The richest event in the history of FASTRAK Northeast will come to Mercer Raceway Park on Saturday, July 3 for the “Summer Nationals”. This National FASTRAK event will pay a cool $6,000 to the winner and will also be the richest Late Model event in the history of Mercer! Mercer hosted a $5,000 National FASTRAK event back on July 4, 2007, which was won by Dick Barton. The 2010 season will be the 40th anniversary since the Late Models first appeared at Mercer in 1970.

Tri-City Speedway will mark the halfway point of the season with race #10 of 20 when they host a Touring Series at their Venango County oval for their first of two appearances on Sunday, July 18.

Ohio’s Raceway 7 and Sharon Speedway again host back-to-back events with Raceway 7’s on Friday, July 23 and less than a week later back to Sharon for a special midweek show on July 28. Sharon’s second event will be a Late Model fan’s dream as FASTRAK joins with the World of Outlaws.

Everyone heads east for a two-day weekend at Dog Hollow and Hesston Speedways on Friday and Saturday, August 6-7. Friday’s show at Dog Hollow always brings out a large field of cars with the Northeast Touring Series regulars joining the track’s strong weekly field. The next day will mark the furthest east a Northeast Touring Series event has ever been held as new promoter Dusty Hertzler welcomes the Touring Series.

Two weeks later another first will take place as the FASTRAK Late Models head to Modified country at Woodhull Raceway in Woodhull, New York on Saturday, August 21 for $1,500 to-win. This event should draw an interesting mix of cars, as neither Mercer, McKean, Hesston nor Fulton Speedways will have FASTRAK as part of their schedule this night. It’ll also give the central New York FASTRAK racers possibly their first chance to take part in a Touring Series event.

A busy Labor Day Weekend will find the Touring Series competing at Tyler County Speedway on Friday, September 3 for $3,000 to-win as part of their Black Diamond Weekend then two days later at Tri-City Speedway as part of their annual Oil Region Labor Day Classic Weekend. Last year’s Tri-City event drew an all-time Northeast record 43 cars and was won by Jim Frank for the first time!

Sharon Speedway and McKean County Raceway will host their final appearances by the FASTRAK Northeast Touring Series on consecutive weekends Saturday, September 18 and Friday, September 24 respectively.

A new season ending event will take place at Roaring Knob as part of the track’s “Spectacular Fall Fest on October 8-9. The two-day event will feature heat races on Friday night followed by the $2,000 Northeast Touring Championship on Saturday. An open practice is scheduled for Thursday night.

In the previous three seasons, a total of 34 Northeast Touring Series events have been contested. Blair is the all-time winner with five victories followed by Powell, Barton, and John Lacki with four wins. Scott’s three checkered flags in 2009 moved him into fifth place in a tie with Pegher. Dellinger is the only other driver to score multiple wins at two. Todd Andrews, Kyle Drum, Frank Guidace, Butch Lambert, Carl McKinney, Chris Meadows, Dennis Lunger, Jr., Jim Frank, and Tom Snyder, Jr. all have single victories.

Membership to join the Touring Series is again $100 for the season. Though membership is not required, it does make one eligible for the point fund. Each event has a $50-$150 entry fee depending on the payoff.

The FASTRAK Northeast Region boasts 16 confirmed weekly-sanctioned tracks for 2010 with Beckley Motorsports Park, Brewerton Speedway, Elkins Speedway, Dog Hollow Speedway, Fulton Speedway, Hesston Speedway, Mercer Raceway Park, McKean County Raceway, New Egypt Speedway, Princeton Speedway, Raceway 7, Roaring Knob Motorsports Complex, Sharon Speedway, Tri-City Speedway, Tyler County Speedway, & West Virginia Motor Speedway. There are three other speedways in neogotiations to become weekly-sanctioned.

"F-2" Shockwave" saw Davey Johnson and Jared Miley split the wins, coming from the 15th and 13th starting positions on the grid.

Elkins Speedway in Kerens, WV returns to the UFo tour with 2 events in 2010. The "Chuck Gear Memorial" is scheduled for Saturday, June 19. This Area 51-lap event will pay $5,000 to the winner. Hesston is under new management for 2010 and improvements to the facility were started at the close of the 2009 season.

The "Red Miley Rumble" will take place on Saturday, July 24 at PPMS. The 41 lap feature will pay at least $3,053 to win. This will be another UFo-ULMS challenge event. Bart Hartman of Zanesville, OH is the defending race champion.

UFo pilots will land at the Elkins Speedway again on Saturday, August 7 for the "RH Armstrong Classic". The Area-51 lap feature will pay $5,000 to the winner. The Lernerville Speedway at Sarver, PA will host the UFo Race Championship again in 2010. The "Lunarville 33" will take place on Friday Night, August 13. The"PENNational" twin features will sizzle in the late summer on Saturday, August 28, also paying $3,000 total to win. John Flinner of Zelienople captured his 2nd all-time UFo feature win at this event last season. Next, the UFo Race Championship will clash with the 3 State Flyers again at Bedford on Friday, September 10. "StarDirt" will pay $3,000 to win for a 38-lap feature. With most Friday night racing concluded for the season at this point of time, a very strong field of Super Late Models should assemble at Bedford for this event.

The UFo Race Championship is scheduled to conclude its season at PPMS in the fall. Last year, Bart Hartman claimed his 2nd and 3rd UFo events of 2009 by winning both races of the twin feature format season finale, carrying home record prize winnings for UFo and PPMS competition.

UFo procedure and car rules have been updated on the UFo Race Championship website. Because of the various motor types and co-sanctions, weight rules will be designated by track for each motor combination. RACEceivers will be required at PPMS, Elkins, Lernerville and Bedford, with transponders also being required at Lernerville. Rentals are available at each track.

ROARING KNOB TO CONTINUE WITH FASTRAK LATE MODELS IN 2010 UNDER NEW OWNER; 2 TOURING SERIES EVENTS SLATED INCLUDING SEASON FINALE

By Mike Leone

February 2, 2010

Pulaski, PA…

The confirmation of Roaring Knob brings the confirmed number of weekly FASTRAK-sanctioned tracks in the Northeast for 2010 up to 15 with four other speedways still in negotiations. In 2009, Roaring Knob joined FASTRAK as a weekly-sanctioned speedway. After a season-low seven cars on opening night, Roaring Knob averaged nearly 19 cars per night the rest of the season. There were an amazing 11 different winners in 13 races. Troy Shields will go down as the inaugural track champion and Bobby Powell made history becoming the first Northeast Touring Series winner on June 27.

“First off we have to thank former track owner Ron Brutt for bringing FASTRAK to Roaring Knob,” explained Northeast Co-Director Vicki Emig. “He took a chance on the division last year and was very thrilled with the results. For a first year track to average nearly 19 cars and have 11 different winners in 13 races is a testament to the growth and competitiveness of this division. It’s great that Rick Jones has given FASTRAK a second year at his new venture, which should only continue the growth of the division.”

Not only will Roaring Knob once again host their June Northeast Touring Series event on the 26th paying $1,200 to-win, but has added a second event for his “Roaring Knob Spectacular Fall Fest” on October 9 and 10. Heat races will be contested on Friday with the Northeast Touring Series Championship on Saturday paying $2,000 to-win. There will also be an open practice session on Thursday night.

“A few weeks ago it didn’t even look like racing would take place at Roaring Knob, now FASTRAK is back weekly and Rick Jones has given us two Northeast Touring Series events,” stated Northeast Co-Director Mike Leone. “We had 17 teams make the trip down to Roaring Knob to mix in with the track’s regulars for last year’s Touring Series race, and I know the guys and our staff really enjoyed the facility and the hospitality they provided. It’s great to be able to have two events and end our season with a new high-paying event!”

“I’m excited to begin my new tenure at Roaring Knob,” expressed Jones. “I’ve heard a lot about FASTRAK the past few seasons and with the success they had at Roaring Knob in their inaugural season, it was a no-brainer for me to bring them back. The growth of FASTRAK is amazing and I look forward to bigger and better things in 2010.”

Roaring Knob Motorsports Complex is a 3/8-mile dirt oval located at 380 Fearer Road, which is directly off of scenic Route 40 near Markleysburg, Pa. The track is situated seven miles east of the Nemacolin Woodlands on the right side of Route 40 or one mile west of Yough Lake on the left side of Route 40. WRT SpeedWerx Adds to Roster and Official Venue/Series list

The largest group of regional Dirt Track Photographers in the nation, just got a little bigger. With the addition of Winchester Speedway to the already impressive list of tracks and series that rely on WRT SpeedWerx to be the official Photographer, it became necessary to add to the team.

When analyzing the strengths and needs of the Winchester Speedway photo program, WRT SpeedWerx co-founder Jason Walls decided to bring in 2 photographers to handle the load of covering “The Action Track” from start to finish, and from all angles. The choice of those two photographers was the easy part. Clifford Dove has an extensive background as a track photographer, and has been the Winchester track photographer for the past 2 seasons. Travis Trussell was the Winchester track photographer for 2 years prior to Cliff’s return, and knows exactly what it takes to capture the show from behind the lens. The combination of these two talented shooters along with the resources of WRT SpeedWerx will give Winchester coverage like never before.

“The 2 photographer system should be a win-win for everyone,” explained Walls. The competitors have the opportunity to purchase quality photos of the racing action from multiple angles and locations on the track… with just one affordable pricing structure, at one location on the web – wrtspeedwerx.com. The track obviously benefits by having twice as many quality shots (from different points of view) being used to promote the close racing action that you can only find at Winchester Speedway. The shooters even benefit by being afforded the freedom to try things that they might not normally try if they alone were responsible for complete coverage. They will also have the opportunity to cover other venues on occasion with the confidence that their teammate has them covered at home.

With the addition of Cliff as a team member, WRT SpeedWerx also adds a new Series to the “Official” list. Danny Wilson’s exciting Steel Block Bandits is now officially a WRT SpeedWerx covered series. This will increase the coverage and the exposure for the Steel Block Bandits, and gives fans and competitors a convenient, easy to remember location to find Bandits photos – wrtspeedwerx.com.

A final off-season improvement for all WRT SpeedWerx team members will be the implementation of a new gallery/ordering program. The old system was nice, but was a bit quirky, cumbersome to upload to, and limited the products that customers could order. The new system will offer more than 100 products that will be fulfilled automatically by one of the premier photo labs in the United States – Mpix. We really think that customers will be very happy with the switch to the new system for 2010.

WRT SpeedWerx would like to thank all of our team members – Jason Walls, Loren Carman, Jason McConnell, JR Lucas, Clifford Dove, and Travis Trussell for all of their hard work.

WRT SpeedWerx would like to thank the Hagerstown Speedway, Williams Grove Speedway, Winchester Speedway, Three State Flyers, Steel Block Bandits, Appalachian Mountain DLM Speedweek, Keystone Cup Sprint Series, and PA Sprint Speedweeks for choosing WRT SpeedWerx to be your official photo providers.

HAGERSTOWN SCHEDULE IS SHOWING A GO FOR 2010

HAGERSTOWN, MD – Less than four weeks remain for Frank Plessinger’s Hagerstown Speedway to get underway with its opening 2010 program, that is, if weather will cooperate for the scheduled date of February 27th when late models and the big block modifieds appear for their Octoberfest Qualifying events.

The speedway has already been busy so far this year with participation in the 25th Annual Motorsports Race Car and Trade Show at Oaks, Pa. for its 25th consecutive appearance and also at the 27th Annual Dirt Trackin’ 2010 show at the York (Pa) Fairgrounds the previous weekend. Heavy traffic was present at both of these events as the 2010 schedule was provided to numerous race fans looking to make plans for the season.

The first order of business will be the 25th Annual Race-A-Rama held at Hagerstown’s Valley Mall just prior to the opening date and runs February 24-26. The show will feature the speedway’s regular weekly divisions; late model, Hoosier Tire Mid Atlantic late model sportsman and Ernie D’s pure stocks.

With Mother Nature uncertain at this time of the year the first three shows are late models and big blocks with the “try and try again” thought to get the Octoberfest Qualifier completed prior to the first special show under the lights, the Super Dirt Series 100-lap event for the big blocks on March 27th. Small blocks will accompany that event for their Octoberfest qualifier.

All championship point events will begin the following week on April 3rd.

A success last season, the first of four Three State Flyer 35-lap events for late models will take to the track on April 10th with subsequent events held on May 29th for the 15th Annual Richard “Boney” Bonebrake Tribute, on June 25th for the 3rd Annual Red Nininger Memorial and the series finale on September 11th.

The 29th Annual Schetromph Classic on April 24th is again sanctioned by the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series who will be revisiting the track on July 31st for another 50-lap event. The Ernie D’s pure stocks will appear for both programs.

The outsiders appear again for the 29th Annual Conococheague 50-lap event on May 15th as the drivers from the World of Outlaw Late Models take on the locals.

Special non-sanctioned late model events honoring those from the past dot the schedule and include the 45th Annual Johnny Roberts Memorial on July 3rd, the 30th Annual Shorty Bowers Bull Durham Championship on August 28th and the 25th Annual McBee/Hays Championship on September 4th that will also be the final late model point event. The Ernie D’s Special is another elite event for late models. Special events for the accompanying classes include the Bill Bowman Special and Hoosier Daddy for the Hoosier Tire Mid Atlantic late model sportsman and the 15th Annual Cornett Tribute for the Ernie D’s pure stocks. The 24th Annual Tommy Thompson Demo Derby is set for August 21st.

Another successful late model program last season was the inaugural Appalachian Mountain Late Model Speedweek. Hagerstown will open the 2nd Annual seven night program on Saturday June 5th.

The open wheeled sprints will have special appearances beginning with the Keystone Cup 410 Sprint Car Series events on Thursday evening, May 27th. Sprints again participate in the 20th Annual Pennsylvania Sprint Car Speedweek on Wednesday, June 30th. The final appearance will be as part of the Octoberfest program.

Added to its schedule last season, the (Silver Spring) super sportsman complimented the Hub City program, their first appearance since 1999. The potent division will again appear with late models in the Three State Flyers finale event on September 11th.

The enduro cars have seven 30-lap Dash events which will then be squared off in the 75-lap Derek Riley Championship as part of the 4th Annual Small Car Nationals along with big money events for the late model sportsman, pure stocks and four cylinders. The Nationals take place September 17-18.

Non racing events include the Monster Jam Nationals for a three night show July 23-25 followed by the two-wheelers of the AMA Flat Track Championship for the 29th Annual Hub City Classic two weeks later on August 7th. The end of the season arrives on October 30-31 with the 23rd Annual Octoberfest 350 with $10,000 going to winners in the late models, big block modifieds, super sprints and small block modifieds followed by the awards banquet set for December 4th

Steve Francis Ready To Go Racing With His Own Team Again In 2010

ASHLAND, KY – Jan. 27, 2010 – Steve Francis is ready to go racing like he used to in 2010.

After spending the last two years as a hired-gun driver, the veteran dirt Late Model star from Ashland, Ky., is back this season in his familiar position as an owner-operator. The return of the well-known Steve Francis Racing No. 15 comes during the ‘Super Bowl of Racing VI’ scheduled Jan. 28-30 at Golden Isles Speedway in Brunswick, Ga.

“I’ve been my own boss for most of my career so I’m excited to be back on my own,” said Francis, whose primary focus in 2010 will be chasing the World of Outlaws Late Model Series championship that he won in 2007 when he last fielded his own team. “I’m sure there’s gonna be a little bit of an adjustment period, but I’m confident we’ll make this work because I have great equipment and a great group of sponsors and supporters.”

Buoyed by the continuation of his primary sponsorship deal with Valvoline for the 11th consecutive season, Francis, 42, has reassembled a formidable operation in the short time since his successful two-year association with Maryland car owner Dale Beitler ended in November. A flurry of activity in the Francis shop has him headed south to kick off ’10 with two Rocket Chassis cars powered by Custom Racing Engines – the same combination that carried Francis to his only WoO LMS title.

Francis has enlisted some close friends to help him in 2010, led by longtime speed shop and team owner Tim Logan and Logan’s son, Lee. The elder Logan plans to travel the circuit as Francis’s crew chief this season as well as provide his own pair of Russell Baker-powered Rocket cars for Francis’s use in selected non-WoO LMS events, while Lee Logan, who served as Francis’s crew chief in 2007, returns to the SFR fold on a part-time basis to handle work in the shop while Francis is on the road. Francis has also hired Derik Reese as a fulltime mechanic to further bolster his effort.

With Francis’s new S&S hauler and trailer not ready for pick up in Nebraska until after his season-opening southern excursion, he will make the trip using a rig borrowed from sponsor Harbaugh Amusement. The car he plans to pull out of the Harbaugh trailer for duty at Golden Isles will be a machine that Francis prepared for NASCAR star Ryan Newman to drive in a handful of 2009 events and has since reconstituted with his own trademark No. 15. Francis will also bring along a new Rocket – a mount sporting his new-for-2010 lettering and color scheme by JFR Graphics – but he’s uncertain when he will debut the car in competition.

The meet at Golden Isles is just the start of a busy month-long stretch for Francis. After departing Georgia he’ll enjoy a few days off in Florida before visiting Ocala (Fla.) Speedway for a test session on Feb. 3. Then he’ll head to East Bay Raceway Park in Gibsonton, Fla., to run the final three nights (Feb. 4-6) of the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series Winternationals behind the wheel of a Blount Motorsports Rocket car alongside the team’s lead driver, Tommy Kerr of Maryville, Tenn., before spending a week (Feb. 8-13) at Volusia Speedway Park in Barberville, Fla., for the DIRTcar Nationals by UNOH.

Francis will drive his own equipment in Volusia’s DIRTcar Nationals, which includes DIRTcar UMP Late Model events on Feb. 8, 9, 10 and 12 and the season-opening World of Outlaws Late Model Series programs on Feb. 11 and 13. He won the second WoO LMS A-Main during last year’s DIRTcar Nationals.

Francis’s schedule won’t slow down once he leaves the Sunshine State. He’ll have to ready his new hauler and then, on Feb. 27, he will marry Amanda Ferrell in Bardstown, Ky. After a honeymoon trip he’ll return to the shop to prepare for the remainder of the 2010 WoO LMS, a grueling national tour on which he’s one of just two drivers to start all 237 A-Mains contested since 2004.

Fans can stay up-to-date on all the latest Steve Francis news and information by visiting his completely redesigned Web site at www.stevefrancisracing.com.

Steve Francis Racing carries support from Valvoline, Rocket Chassis, Custom Racing Engines, Keyser’s Port City Racing, VP Race Fuels, Performance Rod & Custom, Harbaugh Amusement, Duralite Racing Wheels, Tim Logan Racing and Hoosier Racing Tire.

BLOOMQUIST AGAIN LEADS NATIONAL RANKINGS CHARGE INTO FLORIDA: POST SUPERBOWL OF RACING

story by: Steve Hixson

(1/31/10) -- Like he's done for the past few seasons, Scott Bloomquist (2007 National RANKINGS champion) exits South Georgia in command of the Top 5 standings rating system. A win, a second and a third is powerful stuff, even for BLACK SUNSHINE, who is flanked already in the standings by defending National RANKINGS champion Josh Richards. Sharing the runner-up spot with KID-ROCKET in the rankings is Austin Hubbard, which asks: if KID-ROCKET is a kid at 21, then what do we dub this teenager (at 17).... the DELEWARE DESTROYER??? That and much more in this weeks RANKINGS REPORT

So... in the TRUE Monday Morning Keyboard Quarterback... the SUPERBOWL is done: Is this a forecast of car counts to come in 2010??? Where's Chupp, McDADDY, Cook, Matt Miller, RJ, SMOKEY and James Ward all of whom were eating up the Top 5 in the Southern & National RANKINGS pre-Groundhogs Day 2009? And what will become of the Lloyd Legacy that is the SUPERBOWL of RACING itself (as an event) in 2011. Would a LUCAS OIL sanctioning draw bigger car-counts. The ICE-BOWL in Talladega drew 62-entrants, like beez to honey... for the $6,000. prize. Randall Walker a local TST racer from nearby Oxford, Alabama led the almost all hometown Top 5 finishers. Jonathan Davenport is tied with ICE BOWL runner-up (another # 49) Dingus Griffin after taking a second place finish from Golden Isles.

And one final question... Is BLACK SUNSHINE: BACK IN BLACK - Will the Team-Zero bossman pick-up where he seemingly left off in 2009, or will we see another barrage of runner-up or further back as he attempts to chase another LOD series crown. Kicking things off Thursday was the black attack: # 0 "Hawkeye Trucking, Miller Bros. Coal Inc., All-Star Performance" sponsored Jay Dickens powered Bloomquist machine in victory lane. On night #2 Bloomquist stepped two-back to finish third as Richards # 1 "Seubert Calf Ranches, ACE Metal Works, Ernie D's Enterprises" Rocket / Cornett Racing powered - BLUEGHOST machine raced to victory.

Night #3 it was A11 Austin Hubbard, whom is set next week to take over the reigns of Dale Beitler's team, taking the $12,000 finale on Saturday. Hubbard driving his # 11 "Trinity Transport, SDH, Commonweath 100, Reliable Painting" sponsored Rocket / Cornett Lightning racecar held off Bloomquist for his career high victory. The Southern & Northern RANKINGS tally events paying $3,500. and above to-WIN regional Super Late Model dirt-races. National RANKINGS events cover all $7,000. to-WIN paying or higher SLM events anywhere in the US and Canada. The next events tallied by National & Southern RANKINGS will be East Bay Raceway's WINTERNATIONALS in Tampa, FL.

FASTRAK NORTHEAST ANNOUNCES NEW SEPARATE “MID-OHIO VALLEY TOURING SERIES” BASED IN WEST VIRGINIA

By Mike Leone

January 30, 2010

Pulaski, PA…FASTRAK Northeast Late Model Touring Series Directors Vicki Emig and Mike Leone have announced a new FASTRAK Mid-Ohio Valley Touring Series. The Touring Series will be based in the heart of West Virginia with the goal of expanding into southeastern Ohio.

The Mid-Ohio Valley Touring Series will be modeled after the success of the Northeast. Events will pay $1,200, $1,500, $2,000, and $3,000 to-win with the possibility of higher paying events in the future. A year end point fund will be established paying the top 10 FASTRAK Mid-Ohio Valley Touring Series members.

“The continued growth of FASTRAK is just incredible,” stated Emig. “It’s exploded here in the Northeast with potentially more to come and West Virginia is now taking off. Last year we were able to add Tyler County and Elkins Speedways and with the announcement of Beckley and West Virginia Motor Speedways going FASTRAK weekly-sanctioned along with the already established Princeton Raceway, it just made sense that now was the time.”

Leone and Emig will work closely with former Tyler County and current West Virginia promoter Dan Patterson and tire supplier Doug Doak. Doak will serve as the Mid-Ohio Valley liaison with the racers and Northeast Office.

“Our Pennsylvania, Ohio, and New York racers can only travel to West Virginia so many times,” explained Leone. “Last year we only had two West Virginia drivers frequent most of our Northeast Touring Series events. For 2010, we have three Northeast Touring events slated for Tyler County, which is the closest of the West Virginia tracks to the Northeast. These events will become co-sanctioned clash events with the Mid-Ohio Valley Series, which will only benefit everyone. It’ll allow the West Virginia racers the opportunity to compete in higher paying events and a season ending point fund without traveling large distances.”

The goal is to secure 10-12 Mid-Ohio Valley Touring Series events. Thus far tentative dates include April 17 Tyler County Speedway, May 1 Tyler County Speedway, May 16 West Virginia Motor Speedway, August 1 West Virginia Motor Speedway, and September 3 Tyler County Speedway. An additional West Virginia Motor Speedway date may be secured as well as the national FASTRAK event on July 9-10.

Additional target tracks where events will try to be secured will be Beckley Motorsports Park, Elkins Speedway, I-77 Speedway, Midway Speedway, Princeton Speedway, Ohio Valley Speedway, and Skyline Speedway. Any tracks interested in hosting a Mid-Ohio Valley Touring Series event should contact the Northeast Office at 724-964-9300.

FASTRAK Northeast Tech Inspector Brad Hibbard will be traveling to the majority of these events to insure the FASTRAK rules are enforced as has been the case the past three seasons in the Northeast.

An informational meeting will be scheduled in the near future.

A separate page for the Mid-Ohio Valley Touring Series will be created off of the FASTRAK Northeast website at www.fastraknortheast.com in the near future.

Racers and fans gathered at the Grand Casino in Hinckley, MN on Saturday evening January 9 to celebrate the 52nd season of racing at the Cedar Lake Speedway during the track's annual awards banquet. Track champions and top drivers in the four NASCAR Whelen All-American Series divisions shared in over $25,000 of track point fund money. Rick Egersdorf in the NASCAR Impact Printing Late Models, Darrell Nelson in the NASCAR Amsoil Modifieds, Greg Nippoldt in the NASCAR Goodyear Pro Stocks, and Jason Vandekamp in the NASCAR Grand Casino Midwest Modifieds were crowned as the 2009 track champions. Following dinner, the top ten drivers in each division were recognized and received trophies. Hypnotist Jason Mystic rounded out the gala evening.

Rick Egersdorf recorded his thirteenth track point title at Cedar Lake Speedway in 2009 by topping the NASCAR Late Model division. Dating back to his first track championship in 1976, Egersdorf has won multiple track point titles in the hobby stocks, winged modifieds and late model divisions. Egersdorf and long-time car owner Craig Geller enjoyed one of their most productive seasons in recent years, as Rick raced to three feature wins and numerous top five finishes in 2009 enroute to his eighth late model point title at the track during what has been a fantastic racing career spanning over 35 years at CLS. Completing the top five in points in the late models were Rick Hanestad, Jake Redetzke, John Kaanta, and Brent Larson.

Darrell Nelson made the long trek south to compete in the NASCAR Modified division at the Cedar Lake Speedway in 2009, and his effort produced his first track point championship. Nelson earned six feature wins during the season in his modified and one with his late model, as he usually brought along both cars to compete against some tough weekly competition. Rounding out the top five point finishers in the modifieds were Jason Miller, Craig Brightbill, Jason Gross, and Mike Kelley Jr.

The battle for the NASCAR Pro Stock track point title came down to season championship night, as Greg Nippoldt and Tim Borgeson were locked in a tight battle for the title. Although Borgeson won the feature race that night, Greg Nippoldt's consistency over the course of the season earned him his first CLS track point championship. Nippoldt had one feature win on the season. Finishing behind Nippoldt in the track point battle for the pro stocks was Tim Borgeson, Mike Loomis, Justin Dodge and rookie Shawn Kammerud.

Jason Vandekamp had a stellar season in 2009, as he won five times in the NASCAR Midwest Modified division to earn his first track point championship at CLS. Vandekamp had come close before, twice finishing second while in the street stock class and riding home to third place in 2008 in his first year in the midwest modified division. Jason put it all together in 2009, as he topped Jeremy Houle, Josh Bazey, Shawn Phillips and Kyle Steffen to garner the track point championship.

Cedar Lake Speedway and NASCAR proudly presented Warren Gebauer, pit crew chief on Brent Larson's late model team, with the Craftsman Mechanic of the Year Award. Also recognized for his effort and contributions to the USA Late Model Nationals event through the formation of the FANS Fund, Rich Olson was given an appreciation award. The FANS Fund assists in helping bring talented late model drivers to the USA Nationals based on fan voting and contributions.

Cedar Lake Speedway thanked all of their sponsors including NASCAR, Bernick's Pepsi, Amsoil, Grand Casino, Goodyear, 3M, Impact Printing, Maxim Graphics, gotomn.com and RockAuto.com for their continued support. Without the support of the drivers, crews, fans and sponsors, quality weekly NASCAR racing and large-scale events would not be possible at the track.

The 2010 schedule was released at the banquet, and is high-lighted by such special events as the 23rd Annual USA Late Model Nationals sanctioned by the World of Outlaws, the 12th Annual Masters featuring the kick-off to the UMP Summernationals along with IRA 410 Outlaw sprint cars, the 5th Annual Legendary 100, the traditional July World of Outlaws sprint car show, the 9th Annual Billy Anderson Memorial with the UMSS 360 sprint cars, the 10th Annual Jerry Richert Memorial for IRA and UMSS sprints, and the 3rd Annual Badger State Nationals. Be sure to take in all of the exciting racing action in 2010 at western Wisconsin's fastest piece of real estate, the Cedar Lake Speedway. Sunoco adds awards for Deery drivers to IMCA contingency program for 2010

LINWOOD, Pa. (Jan. 29) – An expanded awards program with IMCA sees Sunoco Race Fuels giving $4,000 in cash to Deery Brothers Summer Series competitors in 2010.

Drivers with perfect attendance and who qualify for the feature will be eligible for drawings for $250 at each Late Model tour event throughout the season.

Another $2,000 will be divided equally among drivers who compete at all series races.

"The expansion of this program to include our Late Model division is a testament to the dedication of Sunoco at the corporate level as well as through great distributors like Diamond Oil,” said Kevin Yoder, who doubles as IMCA’s marketing director and Deery Series director. “Sign-up details are being finalized but this new structure will pay cash to Late Model drivers participating at each Deery Brothers event with Sunoco race gas. Representatives from Sunoco will be on hand at series events to assist in verification and present awards."

The manufacturer of the official fuel of IMCA also returns this season as title sponsor of two divisions and will pay point funds for top 15 finishers in national point standings for both the Stock Car and Hobby Stock classes.

Total point fund for the Stocks is $5,000. The Hobby Stock point fund is $3,000.

Sunoco also returns as title sponsor of the Stock Car Race of Champions held during the IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals and will provide the $2,000 purse for that event.

"Supporting three IMCA divisions with cash and product through point funds and race purses really gives back to racers and we are proud to have extended our partnership with Sunoco Race Fuels through the 2012 racing season,” Yoder said. “This extension ensures Sunoco will celebrate 20 years as an IMCA sponsor and that dedication is both humbling and appreciated."

LATE MODELS RETURN TO PERRIS AUTO SPEEDWAY IN 2010!

(JANUARY 28, 2010, PERRIS, CA) Perris Auto Speedway promoter Don Kazarian announced that after a one-year absence, the fastest stock cars to ever turn a wheel at Perris Auto Speedway, the Extreme Late Models, would return two times during the 2010 season.

Led by three-time PAS Late Model champion Art Peterson of Cathedral City, the Late Models will make their first appearance on March 27th. They will join Amsoil USAC/CRA Sprint Cars and the West Coast Street Stock Series (PASSCAR Super Stocks) in a high-speed triple-header show for their first appearance. They will be back on July 24th when they again join the cars and stars of the West Coast Street Stock Series, PASSCAR Street Stocks, Modifieds, Sport Mods, Pick-A-Part Factory Stocks and the California Lightning Sprint Cars.

“I had a meeting with veteran racer Jim Giardina about a month ago,” Kazarian said. “He and several of the other local drivers wanted us to bring Late Models back. Unfortunately the meeting happened so late, we can only get them in two times this year. Our schedule was already filled and we did not want step on any of the WCS dates. In fact, when I first put them on the schedule, I had May 1st as their first race, but then noticed Tulare had that date so I switched it to March 27th.”

The two races will be open competition shows and there will be no organization for drivers to join.

When asked if this means more Late Model shows in 2011 Kazarian said, “I hope so, but lets see how it works out first. If it is beneficial to the racers, fans and the track, we would love to have them back for more shows in 2011.”

Perris Auto Speedway will open its 15th season on February 13th and 14th with rounds #1 and #2 of the PASSORS Off Road Series. The PAS will open its USAC season two weeks later on February 27th when the USAC National & CRA Sprint Cars and the USAC National & Western Midgets contest the Sokola Shootout. The PASSCAR season opener, on March 6th, will feature the West Coast Street Stocks (PASSCAR Super Stocks), PASSCAR Street Stocks, Modifieds, Sport Mods, California Lightning Sprint Cars, Pick-A-Part Factory Stocks, CDCRA Dwarf Cars and the NMRA Three-Quarter Midgets.

2009 ASLMS Banquet Preview: Jared Hawkins Gains Valuable Experience!

Pittsburgh, PA (January 27, 2009) - Jason Shank  OReilly All Star Late Model Series Director

Jared Hawkins out of Fairmont, WV had what some would say an, up and down season with the OReilly All Star Late Model Series on his way to finishing the season fifth in the Championship Point Standings.

The soft spoken young man that also answers to Hawk turned some heads during the 2009 season with some pretty solid finishes against some very good competition throughout the year. Hawk claimed seven top-ten finishes en route to his top-five finish in the standings.

The 2009 season kicked off at Lernerville Speedway in Sarver, PA where Jareds season would get off to a rocky start. A DNF put Hawkins behind the eight-ball early but a solid seventh place finish the next night at Schraders KC Raceway in Chillicothe, OH moved Jared all the way up to sixth in All Star points to pave the way to the next series event at Winchester Speedway in Winchester, VA. A disappointing 22nd place finish at the Virginia oval fortunately kept Hawkins within striking range of the top-five in points as the series prepared for their second visit to KC Raceway.

The Chillicothe, OH speed plant seemed to be a place of redemption for Hawk as he came home with a sixth place finish to jump up to fourth place in the season standings. It seemed as if Jared was poised to make some noise with the series after his run at KC, Series Director Jason Shank stated, he had moved up to fourth in the standings and seemed to have a lot of confidence going into the Grizzly at Central PA Speedway in Clearfield, PA. But Jareds trend of one disappointing finish followed by a good finish continued with some bad luck. Hawkins was caught with no where to go during his heat race destroying his Rocket Chassis and sidelining him for the night. For the first and only time of the season, Jared did not qualify for the feature event dropping him back down to sixth in the championship point standings.

Jareds unfortunate luck continued when the series traveled into the state of Michigan for events at Hartford Motor Speedway in Hartford, MI and Butler Motor Speedway in Butler, MI . Jared drew the pole position for the 40-lap feature event at Hartford but lost the handle of his mount on a restart of an early caution, collected a slew of other drivers and was scored with a 22nd place finish. The roller coaster ride continued for Hawk at Butler Motor Speedway where finished sixth to start a pretty good string of finishes over the next seven races.

Hawk followed his sixth place finish at Butler with a decent 12th place run at Tri-City Speedway in Franklin, PA and then it was on to one of Jareds favorite places to race, Tyler County Speedway in Middlebourne, WV. Tyler County is where Jared cut his teeth and where he not only had hopes for a good finish, but knew he could contend for a win. And contend he did as he battled with fellow All Stars Jared Miley and Coleby Frye for positions two through four from his ninth place starting position. Hawkins crossed the line fifth when the checkered flag fell to garner his best finish with the series up to that point. The series then made their way back to Central PA Speedway for the $10,000 to win Yankee Doodle, the place where earlier in the year; Hawk was unable to compete in the 50-lap feature. Jared got a bit of revenge on the speedway as he finished 12th in the A-Main.

Then came the weekend the series visited Indiana, the weekend Hawkins really let it all hang out and proved himself to be a force to be reckoned with. The trip started at Twin Cities Speedway in North Vernon, IN where Jared claimed a seventh place finish before the series stop at the immaculate Lawrenceburg Speedway in Lawrenceburg, IN, just outside of Cincinnati, OH . Hawkins qualified fourth fastest during the SpeedWrapz Time Trials and finished second in his heat race before finishing a season best third behind race winner Chub Frank and runner-up Darrell Lanigan.

The series then returned to the ultra competitive Lernerville Speedway where Hawk captured a 14th place finish before the series returned to KC Raceway where Jared had already chalked up two top-ten finishes. Hawkins continued to be good at the Jeff Schrader owned facility grabbing an eighth place finish which was good enough to move him up to fifth in the championship standings and only four points behind Coleby Frye for fourth. That set up the tours final event of the season at KC Raceways $20,000 to win Classic. The weekend got of to an unfortunate start for Hawkins as after qualifying his Cornett Lighting Racing Engine would not fire for his heat race. Luckily, Jared was eligible for a series provisional and was able to start the 100-lap feature event. He started the event but pulled off the racing surface early in the event to collect a 25th place finish and solidify the fifth position in All Star Points.

Points: 2496 Points Position: 5th Fast Time: 1 A-Main Wins: None Top 10s: 7 Top 5s: 2 Heat Wins: 1 B-Main Wins: 0

Brad Neat head shot 2010 usa nat ad gd one

Team Manager Jason Fitzgerald Comments on the Start of the 2010 Race Season and Addition of Brad Neat:

"Yeah, I think we're really looking forward to the start of this season. It's great to be back with Earl (Pearson Jr.) and the guys. It was great to have everything work out where I could come back with the team this season. I think we can put the pieces back together quickly and run for the championship this season with both teams. When I came back over the winter, it really never felt like I left, and that's good for everyone.

"We normally run extremely well at Golden Isles, and it's a great place to start the season for us. We've done some work to our cars over the winter, and I know both Brad and Earl are anxious to get on the track and see what we have learned. I expect some tweaking over the first three nights here, but hopefully we're ready to go. As long as our equipment does what it should, we expect good finishes and compete for wins. Earl has a lot of success at this track in the past. That includes two or three wins so we're confident.

"I believe that a team can earn success when it has a lot of chemistry. That's what we are looking for at the start of this season. We really believe we have the right guy with Brad (Neat). He's a great addition to Bobby Labonte Racing. We were fortunate enough to bring some of his guys up to the race shop in Archdale (N.C.) and work with us. A guy like Mark (crew chief of the No. 41 Mark Hopper), who has been with Brad all his racing life, and who is really talented, that makes us a better team. Everyone is working well together. We are really excited about having a second car, along with good equipment, a good engine and most importantly good people."

About Bobby Labonte Racing:

BLR is located in Archdale, N.C., and owned by 2000 NASCAR Champion Bobby Labonte. The team was formed in 2007 and immediately won back-to-back Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series championships. Dubuque sets 14 IMCA Late Model dates; Farley, West Liberty plan six race schedules

DUBUQUE, Iowa (Jan. 25) – After a handful of appearances there each of the last two seasons, IMCA sanctioned Late Models will make more regular appearances at Dubuque Fairgrounds Speedway this year.

Thirteen Sunday night programs and a midweek fair show are scheduled for the division. National, state and local track points will be awarded for each event and the track champion earns bonus points to be applied toward national standings.

Two other Keith Simmons promoted tracks, Farley Speedway and West Liberty Raceway, will run limited IMCA Late Model schedules. Track champions at both will receive pro-rated bonus points.

“Before 2007, it had been a long time since we had been involved with weekly race programs at Dubuque or West Liberty in any division,” said IMCA Vice President of Operations Brett Root. “I hope our drivers take advantage of the opportunity to chase points or race at these facilities as their personal schedules permit this season.”

First night for IMCA points at Dubuque is May 16.

The sanctioned class is also on race programs May 23 and 30, June 6, 20 and 27, July 4, 11, 18 and 28, and Aug. 1, 15, 22 and 29.

The Wednesday, July 28 date is during the county fair.

Farley’s Friday dates are May 21, June 4 and 25, July 2, and Aug. 13 and 20. Saturday shows at West Liberty are May 22, June 12 and 26, July 10 and 31, and Aug. 21.

“Friday night shows at Farley work well for our drivers who live in the area and race Saturdays at Independence Motor Speedway,” Root said. “Dates at West Liberty were scheduled when the Late Models were not on the program at 34 Raceway.”

During the 2010 transition season, drivers competing in weekly events at Dubuque, Farley or West Liberty with open engines that were legal in 2009 will use a restrictor plate; 14-inch wheels will also be allowed in sanctioned events at all three tracks.

The Deery Brothers Summer Series visits Dubuque on April 18 and Farley on Aug. 3. All IMCA rules apply and will be enforced at those events.

New Summit Racing Equipment program rewards drivers in seven IMCA divisions

TALLMADGE, Ohio (Jan. 24) – New sponsor Summit Racing Equipment is awarding $12,000 in gift cards to drivers in seven IMCA divisions this season.

A long-time provider of high performance products for drag racing and street performance customers, Summit Racing is excited to expand its offering to circle track racers. Summit Racing is based in Tallmadge, Ohio, and also has retail outlets in Sparks, Nev., and McDonough, Ga.

Awards will be based on regional standings for Modifieds, Stock Cars and Hobby Stocks, and on national standings for Late Models, Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods, Southwest Racing Specialties Southern SportMods and Mach-1 Sport Compacts.

“We know circle track drivers use a lot of the same parts we currently keep in stock, and we are looking into how we can better serve these racers,” explained Jim Greenleaf, motorsports events manager for Summit Racing. ”When we were researching how to reach the grassroots circle track racer, the IMCA sanctioning body definitely got our attention.”

“This is a great program and we are excited about our partnership with IMCA for the 2010 season,” he added. “This program is a good fit for us and the racers within the program.”

Gift cards good for $100 will go to top 10 finishers in each of the five regions for Modifieds and in both regions for Stock Cars and for Hobby Stocks; and to top 10 drivers in national point standings for Late Models, both SportMod classes and the Sport Compacts.

Those cards will be mailed after standings become official in late October.

Established in 1968, Summit Racing Equipment is the leading high performance parts and accessories company. Summit Racing offers the largest selection, lowest prices, and best customer service in the high performance industry via catalogs, the Internet and retail super stores.

“Anyone can sell parts. Taking care of customers is what sets us apart,” Greenleaf said. “We are very customer oriented. We pride ourselves in having inventory on the shelf at the lowest price and if you order parts before 9 p.m. today, they’ll be shipped today.”

Information about products available from Summit is available at the www.summitracing.com website or by calling 800 230-3030.

"The development of the Summit program adds a great deal of value for drivers finishing in the top ten at the end of the 2010 season and we are pleased to work with them this year,” IMCA Marketing Director Kevin Yoder said. “It has been a great relationship thus far and I think our drivers will experience the same through their great customer service."

Skyline Speedway to sanction AMRA Late Models Joins already established AMRA Modified sanction

By Scott Wolfe

MT. ALTO, WV.-AMRA president Larry Keefer and Skyline Speedway promoter Billy Jarrell have once again joined forces in announcing that Skyline Speedway will be sanctioned by the AMRA Late Model series. The announcement further establishes the growth of the AMRA in the sanctioning of the full bodied stock cars which began last season with Tyler Mountain, WV driver Harold Redman, Jr. picking up the inaugural crown. Skyline Speedway has long been a supporter of the AMRA's Modified division, now establishing itself as a supporter of the AMRA Late Models. Skyline Speedway races six divisions weekly as 410 sprint cars, Pure Stocks, Four Cylinders and mini-wedges comprise the Friday night racing card. Said Jarrell, "This gives our local drivers a greater chance at earning AMRA National points and thus gives them a chance to earn valuable points' money from AMRA. If it is good for our drivers, then it is also good for Skyline Speedway. Our late model drivers and owners have been extremely supportive of Skyline and a majority of the teams felt this was the thing to do." "I am extremely pleased that Skyline has come aboard in the late model division," said Larry Keefer. "We want to expand the late model division to the prestige of the modified division. The AMRA is strong in the fact it is a sanction comprised of the drivers and owners and for the drivers and owners. Many sponsors and track owners have stepped up to the plate in helping this venture grow. Once again, it is a win-win situation for all involved." Skyline joins Beckley Motor Speedway, K-C Raceway, Ohio Valley Speedway, Tyler County Speedway, and I-77 Motorsports Park as tracks that sanction both AMRA divisions. Modified tracks include Rocky Top, Skyline Speedway, Elkins Speedway, I-77 Motorsports Park, Eastside Speedway, Potomac Speedway, Beckley Motor Speedway, K-C Raceway, Charleston Speedway, Ohio Valley Speedway, and Tyler County Speedway. The AMRA has announced an explanation of awarded points. Only the best 20 AMRA finishes will count in the National point’s championship. Drivers can receive AMRA points at any of the AMRA sanctioned tracks. The driver takes his best 20 weeks. To earn points, a driver must be a member of the AMRA. In order to race an AMRA event, drivers must have a temporary ($15) license or a full membership. After four temporary permits are issued a driver becomes an AMRA member and can start earning points. With an initial full membership ($45) a member begins earning points immediately. In addition to AMRA points drivers also can take advantage of individual track point funds. Skyline will award a new chassis to its modified and late model points champion in 2010. Skyline has also expanded its outreach to fans and drivers with a Facebook page, which will announce updates along with the Skyline website. IMCA bonus points maxed at 48 in five divisions

VINTON, Iowa (Jan. 22) – As many as 48 bonus points will be awarded this season, to track and special series champions in five IMCA divisions.

A maximum of 24 bonus points, again determined by average weekly car counts, will be given for each of as many as two local track titles or for one track and one special series crown.

The additional points will be added to national and regional Modified, Stock Car and Hobby Stock standings, and to national standings for both SportMod classes.

Tracks must hold at least eight point races for the full bonus to be given.

“Our objective as a nationwide sanctioning body is to take approximately 130 tracks and incorporate a point system that best meets the needs of drivers, while keeping in mind the limits to how often they can race,” said IMCA Vice President of Operations Brett Root. “We do not want to favor one track, state or region. I believe this structure is the most fair we’ve incorporated over the years.”

Drivers who win three or more track titles will receive bonus points determined by the two tracks with the highest car count averages. No bonus will be given for any special series scheduled to conclude after the end of the 2010 regular point season.

Late Model and Sport Compact track champions will also receive a maximum of 24 bonus points for a single local track title.

A minimum of four races must be held in each of the seven classes to crown a track champion. Bonuses will be pro-rated for tracks holding between four and seven events.

Bonus points were limited to 60 and could be derived from any number of track championships last year. Special series bonus points were set at 20.

“While our point system continues to be the best in the business, there is always fine turning to be done,” Root said. “This system continues to make it possible for more drivers to win regional or national crowns.”

2009 ASLMS Banquet Preview: Jared Miley Solid in First Year on the Road

Pittsburgh, PA (January 19, 2009) - Jason Shank OReilly All Star Late Model Series Director

Jared Miley of South Park, PA cut his teeth in Western PA at facilities like Pittsburghs PA Motor Speedway in Imperial, PA, where he won two Late Model division championships, and Lernerville Speedway in Sarver, PA for the past five years and decided in 2009 that he would follow the OReilly All Star Late Model Series in their inaugural season.

Jareds 2009 ASLMS season started off at the very familiar Lernerville Speedway where Miley finessed his way to a respectable eighth place finish in the A-Main putting him eighth in championship points. The next night at Schraders K-C Raceway in Chillicothe, OH wasnt as kind to Miley as he had to transfer to the A-Main through the B-Main but was unable to finish the feature event and was scored with a 22nd place finish.

The Series next trip was to Winchester Speedway in Winchester, VA and it was unfortunately another bad night for the Jared Miley Racing (JMR) team. Again Jared used a B-Main to get into the nights main event and came home with a 20th place finish. Mileys perfect attendance had him fourth in the All Star Points going into the tours second trip to K-C Raceway. Jared bettered himself on this visit as he crossed the line tenth in the final rundown setting up a run of eight straight top-ten finishes.

The highlight of Mileys All Star season came at Central PA Speedway in Clearfield, PA where Miley finished fourth in his heat putting Jared in the 15th starting position for the Grizzly. Miley battled The Big Bear for 45 laps before a lap 44 caution put him on the bumper of race leader Coleby Frye. Jared made his move on Frye on the 45th circuit to take the lead and cruise to his first career All Star win and a crisp $7,000 payday. Jared continued to stay hot throughout the Series trek to the state of Michigan with a third place finish at Hartford Motor Speedway in Hartford, MI and a seventh place finish at Butler Motor Speedway in Butler, MI. The hot streak moved Miley up to third in All Star Points, just ten points out of second.

Miley continued to pick up valuable points at Tri-City Speedway in Franklin, PA with a ninth place finish and then it was back into the top-five for Jared with a third place finish at Tyler County Speedway in Middlebourne, WV. Mechanical woes during Mileys return to Central PA Speedway wasnt enough to stop Jareds string of consecutive top-tens as he borrowed a car from fellow racer Benny Gordon to finish tenth in the annual Yankee Doodle. Miley followed that up with another tenth place finish at Twin Cities Raceway Park in North Vernon, IN. Jareds run of consecutive top-ten finishes came to an end at Lawrenceburg Speedway in Lawrenceburg, IN with a 14th place finish. However, Miley was positioned solidly into the third position in the season point standings sandwiched between Rob Blair of Titusville, PA and Rod Conley of Wheelersburg, OH with only three events remaining.

The tour returned to Lernerville Speedway for the Dual in the Dirt, a co-sanctioned show featuring the OReilly All Star Late Models and the OReilly All Star Circuit of Champions Sprint Cars. After some bad luck early in the night, Jared came through the B-Main to finish 16th but missed the Series next event at Schraders K-C Raceway dropping him from third in championship points to sixth. After a 13th place finish at the Dirt Track World Cup Classic at K-C Raceway, Miley was unable to overcome the lost points from missing that one event and finished the season sixth in All Star Points.

I've been watching Jared since he climbed into a race car at Pittsburgh's PA Motor Speedway and have watched him grow into one of the rising stars of Dirt Late Model Racing, proclaimed Series Director Jason Shank. When he called me last season to tell me he was running the whole O'Reilly All Star Late Model Series I was extremely excited to be picking up such a young talent to go along with our talented crop of veterans such as Rob Blair, Rick 'Boom' Briggs, and Rod Conley, and our other vibrant youngsters like Jared Hawkins and Coleby Frye. Jared is not only one of the young up-and-comers in Dirt Late Model racing but he's also one of the 'good guys' of the sport, continued Shank. He's a good kid, albeit a quiet kid, and will be very good for the sport with his personable but quiet personality and his rugged, aggressive style on the race track. He's a crowd pleaser and will be one for a long time.

2009 ASLMS Statistics: Points: 2432 Points Position: 6th Fast Time: 0 A-Main Wins: One (The Grizzly @ Central PA Speedway, Clearfield, PA) Top 10s: 9 Top 5s: 3 Heat Wins: 0 B-Main Wins: 1

Jared drives a Rocket Chassis with either a Broughers Machine Shop Racing Engine or a Cornett Lighting Racing Engine, and Hoosier Tires. Sponsors include Colussy Chevrolet / Brougher's Machine Shop / Red Miley's Miley Truck Rental / Hoosier Tire Mid-Atlantic / Miley BP Car Wash / Rocket Chassis.

One of the neat things about Mercer is that it’s neutral ground and with the centralized location, we’ve always been able to attract cars from Northwest PA/western New York, eastern and central Ohio, and all over western and central Pennsylvania.”

UFo will kick off its third season at Mercer led by two-time champion Alex Ferree. The Saxonburg, Pa. driver has competed in five prior Mercer events, but has never been victorious. In its two-year history, UFo has contested 22 events with an amazing 17 different winners led by three-time winners Bart Hartman and Steve Baker. Flinner is the Series’ only other repeat winner at two and has already indicated and he’ll look to defend his October 3 win and try to match the all-time UFo win mark.

John Mollick, who won the 2008 “Fall Brawl”, was the runner-up to Ferree in the 2009 final standings and owns one career UFo win. Third place point man was one-time winner Keith Barbara, who has two career Mercer Late Model wins back in the 2003 season. Jared Miley, who finished fourth in points, is a one-time UFo victory and has only ever competed at Mercer once. Completing the top 10 in points were Mike Johnson, Mike Basich, Flinner, Lynn Geisler, Brandon Burgoon, and Gregg Satterlee.

Another driver anxious to return to Mercer will be Big-Block Modified star Dave Murdick, who expects to contend for the UFo title. The nearby Slippery Rock, Pa. resident has turned many laps at Mercer and has nine Modified wins to his credit. Murdick was very fast in the Pitkavish #1 contending for the win in the October 3 event before he got caught up in an accident.

“We are very excited to have Mercer Raceway Park as part of the UFo alliance for 2010,” stated UFo Director Doug Ferrell. “Mercer has been a leader in innovative race promotions and always runs a top-quality program, which will be a great fit with UFo. This will be a superstar event on the schedule as it will kick off the 2010 Super Late Model major event season for the entire PA-OH-WV-NY region."

The E-Mods will be part of the “Chiller Thriller” for the fourth straight year and third under the UEMS banner. Richard Michael, Jr. won the $500 non-sanctioned event in 2007, while Randy Hall has been victorious in the last two seasons’ $750 to-win UEMS events. This year, the pot has been upped with $1,000 going to the winner.

The Stock Cars have always come out to support the “Chiller Thriller” under the open “Little Guy Nationals” rules. This event always draws cars from all over western and central Pa., eastern Ohio, and western New York as it’s not only most racers first race of the year, but one of the biggest early season events with $1,000 on the line. Past winners of this event include Andy Buckley (2005), Rusty Wheeler (2007-2008), and Tim Deutsch (2009).

Bringing down the curtain on 2010 opener will be the fast-growing Mini Stock division. This event will use the same rules as the “Warlock 30” and “Snowflake 20” to allow most area Mini Stocks to compete before Mercer’s rules kick in on the first night of points on April 3. Past winners include Kevin Kilgore (2009) and Chris Myers (2008).

In the event of inclement weather, Mercer Raceway Park has reserved Saturday, April 3 as a rain date. Pits gates open at 3:30 p.m. with grandstands at 4:30. Hot laps will begin at 6:15 p.m. with the first green flag at 7.

If the “Chiller Thriller” is completed as planned, Mercer will kickoff its traditional “Saturday night Live” program of Luxaire Heating & Cooling Sprint Cars, Approved Toilet Rental Modifieds, 4 Your Car Connection FASTRAK Late Models, Stock Cars, and M&D Paving Mini Stocks on April 3 at 7 p.m.

Mercer Raceway Park is a 3/8-mile dirt track located minutes from both Interstate 79 and 80 just off Route 19 on Fairground Road in Mercer, Pa. Dirt track racing and quality family entertainment are presented weekly late March through October. The office in New Bedford, Pa. is open year-round late mornings and after 1:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Randy Weaver Readies for 2010 Opener at Brunswick with New Team!

(CROSSVILLE, TENNESSEE) Randy Weaver had a terrific 2009 racing season, which was highlighted by his first O'Reilly Southern Allstars Series (OSAS) Championship. After teaming up with car owner Mike Hill in 2009, Randy has decided to head a different direction in 2010. Following the amicable split with Mike Hill this off-season, Randy and Junior Weisgarber have assembled their own racing team for the '10 campaign.

The newly-formed team is feverishly working on preparing their two newly-acquired Bloomquist racecars for competition during the annual 'Super Bowl of Racing' at the Golden Isles Speedway in Brunswick, Georgia. Randy will open up his season with three O'Reilly Southern Allstars Series (OSAS) shows at the southern Georgia venue from January 28-30. The trio of races at GIS will pay $7,500, $10,000, and $12,000 to win respectively.

"I am very excited about the new team we have put together for 2010 and can't wait to start our season at Brunswick," exclaimed Weaver in a telephone conversation recently. "Mike (Hill) was incredible to drive for last year and I can't thank him enough for all of his support. However, we decided to split on good terms during the off-season and that is when myself and Junior Weisgarber went to work on this new team."

"We acquired two Bloomquist racecars for use this year and have two great crew guys on board full-time in Junior Weisgarber and Josh Gunter," Weaver went on to say. "Even though we are starting out the year at Brunswick, we probably won't run the Southern Allstars deal full-time this year or any other series for that matter. Our plan is to hit all of the big races in the Tennessee/Georgia area in 2010, as well as venture to some of the crown jewel events like the World 100, Dream 100, Show-Me 100, Topless 100, and North/South 100. Hopefully, everything will work out and we can have a successful 2010 racing season!"

The Randy Weaver Racing team would like to thank the following group of sponsors and supporters for their help in 2010: B.K.W. Disaster Recovery & Rebuilding, Compton Company, The Bailey Company, Byrd's Radiator, Gunter Drywall, Ellis Contracting, Race Engine Design (R.E.D.), Bloomquist Race Cars, VP Race Fuels, Hoosier Racing Tires, Wiles Driveshafts, Green Air Filters, Ohlins Shocks, Dirt Budds, Delph Communications, Weld Wheels, Sweet Mfg., SHY Racing Suspensions, and Bert Transmissions.

Billy Moyer Jr. Scores Top Three Finish in $10k Wild West Final

Batesville, Arkansas (01/17/10) – Billy Moyer Jr. wrapped up the ultra-busy 4th Annual Wild West Shootout on Sunday night with a great third place finish in the $10,000 to win finale in his #21jr Victory Circle M1 Chassis by Moyer/Clements Racing Engine Super Late Model.

Sunday night, January 17th marked the finale for the Wild West Shootout as the $10,000 to win, Bill Cheesebourg Memorial was held at USA Raceway in Tuscon, Arizona. Forty-two Super Late Models entered the event, and Billy finished in the fourth position in his heat race after starting fourth. He would fall short of earning enough passing points to lock into the feature and was relegated to the b-main event. Moyer Jr. would race his way out of the b-main to the a-main via a third place finish, which earned him the 22nd starting spot on the grid for the 40 lap feature. The main event would get off to a rough start for Moyer Jr. as he was involved in a lap one melee that included ten cars. Luckily he received minimal damage and was able to restart the event. As the event went back green, he began to methodically work his way toward the front of the field. By lap 15 he had cracked the top ten as he rode in the 9th position. Over the final half of the race he would ultimately march his way to a great third place finish behind event winner, Jimmy Mars, and Jeremy Payne!

Sunday night’s finish was a redemption for bad luck that struck on Friday night when Moyer was contesting Terry Phillips for the lead on lap 24 of the 30 lap event only to have his right rear tire go flat, relegating him to a disappointing 14th place finish.

“The car was awesome on Friday night, and I really thought that I might win that one. Then the tire went down, and it was really a let down for our team. However, with the third place run on Sunday night against this field of cars, I’m really proud with the progression that we made during the week out here in Arizona, and I’m really excited about the 2010 season!” commented Moyer Jr.

Billy’s results for the week are summarized below:

Round #1: January 9th: USA Raceway (Tuscon, AZ) - $3,000 To Win - DNS

Round #2: January 10th: USA Raceway (Tuscon, AZ) - $5,000 To Win – 14th

Round #4: January 15th: USA Raceway (Tuscon, AZ) - $3,000 To Win – 19th

Round #5: January 16th: USA Raceway (Tuscon, AZ) - $3,000 To Win – 14th

Round #6: January 17th: USA Raceway (Tuscon, AZ) - $10,000 To Win – 3rd

This Saturday, January 23rd, Billy will attend the O’Reilly MSRA banquet in Little Rock, Arkansas, where he will be crowned the 2009 Champion. He will receive over $5,000 in cash plus contingencies. For more information on the MSRA tour, please visit www.MSRADirt.com .

DAVID SCOTT HONORED AS 2009 FASTRAK NORTHEAST TOURING SERIES CHAMPION AT AWARDS BANQUET AS RECORD PAYOFF DISTRIBUTED

By Mike Leone

January 16, 2010

Hermitage, PA…The FASTRAK Northeast Late Model Touring Series honored its top 15 racers from the 2009 season on Saturday night, January 16. The Normandy Banquet Center played host to the third annual event, which was held in conjunction with the Mercer Raceway Park Awards Banquet & Dinner. Nearly $19,000 in cash, contingencies, and prizes were handed out. A record $17,200 in cash was distributed to the top 12 racers with more than $800 handed out in contingencies to positions 13-15.

The 2009 season was the third year for the Northeast Touring Series and was a record breaking year. A record 138 different drivers competed in the 15 completed events with an average car count of 32 per night. A new car count record of 43 was established at the Tri-City Speedway event on Labor Day Weekend.

David Scott of Garland, Pa. celebrated his first championship in his inaugural season driving the #100 Bullitt House Car for John and Janet Powell out of Huntingdon, Pa. Scott and the Powells each received championship jackets along with the $5,000 title. Scott became the third different champion in as many seasons joining 2007 champion Alan Dellinger and 2008 champion Max Blair.

Scott recorded three wins along the way, but his first didn’t come until the August 8 event at Elkins Speedway in West Virginia. He later added wins at Mercer Raceway Park on September 12 and a week later at Sharon Speedway on September 19. Scott finished with 11 top 5s and 13 top 10s in 15 events.

Defending 2008 Northeast Touring and National Weekly Series Champion, Max Blair, had another stellar season. The 19-year-old Centerville, Pa. driver won events at Mercer, Expo, and Dog Hollow on his way to a runner-up finish. Blair had nine top three finishes and challenges Scott down to the wire in his Eagle Hoist & Winch/Specialty Products/Loney Timber/Moody Welding-sponsored #111.

2008 Mercer Raceway Park Mod Lite Champion made the jump up to the FASTRAK Late Models in 2009 and had an excellent debut competing in all 15 Northeast Touring Series events and coming up third in the final standings. The 16-year-old Conneaut, Ohio racer drove the Main Avenue Insurance/Chardies Auto Parts/Bushnell Store-sponsored #2 to 7 top 8s including a career best second at McKean County Raceway in the season finale.

Despite tying for the National Weekly Series Championship, Mike Pegher, Jr. didn’t have the success he had hoped for on the Northeast Touring Series slate finishing fourth. The Wexford, Pa. driver of the Lynn Geisler-owned #1 Cochran/Pegher Custom Home Painting/Triple-S Auto-sponsored #1c started the year off on fire winning the opening two events at Tyler County and Sharon, but could only muster 4 top 5 finishes in the final 13 events.

Completing the top 5 was Bobby Powell. The Waterford, Pa. driver completed his second full year behind the wheel of the Scott Bidwell-owned, Fame RV Center/Maloney Tool/Houck Carbide/Jay’s Auto Wrecking/Rich Johnson Electric-sponsored #B1D with two wins at Roaring Knob and Tri-City.

Carl McKinney competed full-time on the Northeast Touring Series slate for the first time and turned in a respectable sixth place effort despite missing the rescheduled Expo event due to leading the E-Mod points at Tri-City. The Cranberry Township, Pa. driver started the year off with four straight top 10s and ended the year with 10 including a season best third at Tri-City on September 6 in his Mikan Motors/Hufnagel Motors Trailer Sales/Results Chiropractic/Strutz Fabricators/Randy’s Window Clean-sponsored #6M.

Dan Angelicchio started the year off as the early Northeast Touring Series point leader thanks to four straight top 7 finishes, but struggled from July on with only two top 10s in the final 11 shows. The New Stanton, Pa. driver ended up seventh in the Denny Angelicchio-owned, Brooks Auto-sponsored #14.

After digging himself a big hole missing two of the first four shows and finishes of 20th and 22nd in the other two, Butch Lambert charged back with 8 top 8 finishes in the final 11 shows to finish eighth in points. The Mars, Pa. driver had a pair of thirds at Elkins and Mercer for his season best efforts in his Bagel Bites/Fannie’s Friends Pet Cremation/Austin’s A1 Bleach/RAM Transit-sponsored #27.

Despite missing the Elkins event due to his active service requirement, the Rome, Ohio racer competed in the remainder 14 events to finish ninth in the final ranking. Watson turned in a pair of season best fifth place finishes at Sharon and Raceway 7 in the Mike Horton-owned, Chief’s Garage & Service/Custom Quality & Collision/BK Trucking/Hide-a-way Campgrounds-sponsored #48.

Joining the FASTRAK ranks in 2009 and finishing 10th was West Virginia racer Gary Knollinger. Driving the Gumby’s/HP Excavating/Earth & Sun-sponsored #38K, Knollinger started off the year in contention for the title with a third at his home track Tyler County, added a runner-up at Mercer on Memorial Day, and turned in a fifth at Raceway 7 on July 3. He continued his strong efforts in West Virginia with a fourth and a second in August at Elkins and Tyler County, but failing to qualify for two features and missing two others late in the year ended his chance at a top five placing.

Another driver to join the FASTRAK Series in 2009 was Garrett Mott, who would finish 11th in the final standings. Not only was he a rookie to FASTRAK, but a raw rookie never racing another division. The young Smethport, Pa. driver missed only the season opening Tyler County event and followed the Touring Series the rest of the way recording a career best third on July 3 at Raceway 7 in his #43x.

Tommy Schirnhofer, Jr. was 12th in his first full season in the Northeast Touring Series to earn the final points paying position. The Pittsburgh, Pa. driver had 5 top 10s in the 11 shows he competed in the Tom Schirnhofer, Sr.-owned, Bucky Gebert Motorsports/Woody’s Towing/Tomei’s Towing/Schirnhofer Welding/R. Torrence, Jr. Trucking-sponsored #8s.

Mike Blose, Joe Martin, and Tom Copeland finished 13th through 15th in points respectively and received a pair of Hoosier FASTRAK tires for the 2010 season. Blose moved into FASTRAK in July and had a season best second in his first ever Touring Series event at Dog Hollow on July 24. Martin, who formerly turned the wrenches for Blose, was another raw rookie and ended the season with a career best Touring Series effort in fifth at Sharon. Copeland missed only the rescheduled Dog Hollow event due to work obligations and had a season best 18th at Mercer on September 19.

Following the top 15 presentation, FASTRAK Northeast Co-Directors Vicki Emig and Mike Leone presented Brad Hibbard with an appreciate award for his efforts over the past three seasons. The Boardman, Ohio residents has served as the Northeast Tech Inspector and has held that position at the Grand Nationals, as well as National events at tracks like Eldora Speedway in Ohio and Wythe Raceway in Virginia. He’s also conducted numerous seminars and has been instrumental in the rapid growth and integrity of the Series.

The 2010 FASTRAK Northeast Late Model Touring Series schedule is hoped to be finalized by the end of the month and is expected to feature 16-20 events with several high paying shows along with new stops along the way.

P.R.O. Dirt Car Series Launches Website; Releases Schedule

Columbus, MS (1/17/10) – The newly formed Promoters Racing Organization (P.R.O.) Super Late Model tour is proud to announce it’s tentative 2010 schedule as well as the launch of its brand new website at www.PRODirtCarSeries.com .

Keep On Keeping On.........Definitely a simple enough statement to most people, but for the Promoters Racing Organization (P.R.O.) Super Late Model tour it best describes the goal of its forefathers. It's no secret that over the past decade that Super Late Model racing has faced many hardships not only in the Southeast, but across the entire country. Track owners claim that they can't afford to run Super Late Models and Super Late Model drivers complain that they can't afford to run for the purses offered by the track owners. As a result, some of the top tracks in the country have gone without one of the most popular divisions, while several others that have continued to run the division are close to giving up the fight.

In the Mississippi and Alabama area, a group of four individuals, Mike Mauldin, Johnny Stokes, Rodney Wing, and Mike Vaughn have decided to do something to preserve Super Late Models in the area. Thus was born the P.R.O. Super Late Model tour, which offers Super Late Model purses that tracks can afford and that racer's can afford to fund their programs on as well. The goal of the series is to have 10-14 races in its inaugural season to allow drivers race at tracks within a reasonable proximity of their home bases. In addition, the tour simultaneously allows tracks, who haven't been able to afford to run Super Late Models to bring the division in a couple of times a year, while also allowing tracks that still run Super Late Models to be able to continue to do so.

In its first season the tour will visit North Alabama Speedway (Tuscumbia, AL), Corinth Speedway (Corinth, MS), Columbus Speedway (Columbus, MS), Greenville Speedway (Greenville, MS), Whynot Motorsports Park (Meridian, MS), Central Mississippi Speedway (Winona, MS), Magnolia Motor Speedway (Columbus, MS), and Jackson Motor Speedway (Byram, MS) .

The 2010 season will be the inaugural campaign for the fledgling series, but the promoters hope that it is something that will thrive and continue to grow for seasons to come!

The tour will come to life with its inaugural events on March 19th-20th at North Alabama Speedway in Tuscumbia, Alabama. On Friday, March 19th, a $2,000 to win/$150 to start event will be held, while Saturday, March 20th will see a $2,500 to win/$200 to start event. If a driver can win both events, then he will claim a $500 bonus, making the opening weekend a total, possible, winner’s purse of $5,000.

More dates are to be added to the schedule in the coming weeks, but the current tentative schedule is shown below:

March 19th: North Alabama Speedway (Tuscumbia, AL)

March 20th: North Alabama Speedway (Tuscumbia, AL)

April 3rd: Central Mississippi Speedway (Winona, MS)

May 22nd: Corinth Speedway (Corinth, MS)

May 29th: Whynot Motorsports Park (Meridian, MS)

May 30th: Magnolia Motor Speedway (Columbus, MS)

July 1st: Greenville Speedway (Greenville, MS)

July 2nd: Central Mississippi Speedway (Winona, MS)

July 3rd: Jackson Motor Speedway (Byram, MS)

July 4th: Magnolia Motor Speedway (Columbus, MS)

August 14th: Greenville Speedway (Greenville, MS)

Competitors will also like to note that the inaugural champion for the P.R.O. tour will receive $5,000. In addition, if a driver buys a NeSmith Super Dirt Car Series membership, his best 10 finishes from the P.R.O. tour will count toward the NeSmith Super Dirt Car Series point’s fund as well, which boasts a cool $10,000 top prize. As a result, some lucky driver in the P.R.O. tour could claim $15,000 in point’s money for ten events worth of work!

Also, competitors will like to note that starting with the second event of the season for the P.R.O. tour there will be a “Winner’s Circle” payout each night, which provides the top ten drivers in points entering the event with tow money.

For complete on the point’s payout and the Winner’s Circle” details visit the “Rules” page at www.PRODirtCarSeries.com .

The P.R.O. Dirt Car Series would like to thank its sponsors including NeSmith, American Race Tires, Hoosier Race Tires, Southern Belle, MRC Racing Collectibles, Maximum Signs & Graphics, MSRMafia.com, MidSouthRacing.com.

NEW EGYPT SPEEDWAY JOINS FASTRAK FOR 2010 AS GROWTH IN NORTHEAST CONTINUES; SEMINAR SCHEDULED FOR JANUARY 22 AS PART OF MOTORSPORTS 2010 SHOW NEAR PHILADELPHIA

By Mike Leone

January 13, 2010

Pulaski, PA…The FASTRAK Racing Series is pleased to welcome New Egypt Speedway on board as a 2010 weekly-sanctioned Late Model speedway. The upcoming season will mark the first ever for FASTRAK in the state of New Jersey. FASTRAK Northeast will also conduct a seminar for all interested parties on Friday night, January 22 at the Greater Philadelphia Expo Center in Oaks, Pa. as part of Motorsports 2010.

“This is a major milestone for FASTRAK to be part of New Egypt’s program,” stated Northeast Co-Director Mike Leone. “New Egypt is without a doubt one of the top facilities in the Northeast and is certainly known far and wide for their Modified program. It’s quite an honor for FASTRAK to make inroads not only in Modified country, but this far east. The announcement has already piqued a lot of interest and will allow FASTRAK an opportunity to grow on the Atlantic Coast.”

New Egypt Speedway is located between Philadelphia and New York City in New Egypt, New Jersey. The 3/8-mile D-shaped clay oval features headlines Big-Block Modifieds and close to 130 race cars on Saturday nights. The FASTRAK Late Models, like all other support divisions at New Egypt, will run every other week equating to approximately 15 shows. The entire facility features a daylight, quality lighting system and excellent sightlines from any seat in the house. The track is fully wheelchair-accessible and features heated restrooms and a monitored playground area. For more information on New Egypt, check out their website at www.newegyptspeedway.net.

“Over the past few years we have been seeing, reading, and hearing about FASTRAK more and more,” said New Egypt General Manager Danny Serrano. “They seem to be growing by the day. Late Models are the most popular form of short track racing in America, however for some reason they haven’t spread into the extreme Northeast just yet. We see that changing very soon.”

“Super Late Models might take a while because of the popularity with the Modifieds here, continued Serrano, but we certainly feel there is a place for crate late models; and if you’re going to go that route it only makes sense to go FASTRAK. We fully understand that this is a building process so we are indeed realistic, but at the same time extremely optimistic about the future of this division. In just a couple of short conversations with Vicki Emig, I can tell that she’s excited that New Egypt has joined the FASTRAK fold and I couldn’t be more happier to be working with her and the FASTRAK organization.”

“We would be remised if we didn’t mention and credit to Michael Sweet,” explained Leone. “Sweet did a lot of the legwork last year and over the early fall in parts of New York and New Jersey to establish the North Atlantic Region; however, due to other commitments Sweet is unable to direct the region to the best of his abilities and tracks such as New Egypt, Brewerton, and Fulton that will debut the division in 2010 will now fall under the Northeast banner. We will continue to lean on Sweet and his knowledge of this area in hopes to continue to build FASTRAK throughout the Northeast.”

“The continued success of the FASTRAK Racing Series has led to many firsts from the addition of new regions and speedways, more competitors, and a growing fan base to new geographic areas of the country,” expressed Sweet, the former Regional Director and new West Coast liaison for the FASTRAK Racing Series. “When FASTRAK introduced its brand of racing to the New England area and New York and New Jersey most racers said, yes, we want to be involved with the series; however, at the time there were no tracks running these cars. Well, with the commitment and signing of New Egypt along with Brewerton and Fulton Speedways in New York, this has all changed.”

“The only thing left to do was to make the Northeast region geographically correct,” continued Sweet. “We’ve now fused things together making the Northeast a substantial area that includes Pennsylvania, Ohio, West Virginia, New York and New Jersey. No other sanctioning body is increasing in size faster than FASTRAK, and the growth and influence the Northeast will have is dramtic.”

FASTRAK Northeast will join with New Egypt and present a “Q & A” seminar session on Friday, January 22 at Motorsports 2010 at the Greater Philadelphia Expo Center in Oaks, Pa. The seminar will begin at 7:30 p.m. and will be free of charge to show attendees on day one of the three-day event.

“We are extremely excited to be coming to the Motorsports show to explain to everyone what FASTRAK is all about,” expressed Northeast Co-Director Vicki Emig. “We’ve heard nothing but positive things about New Egypt Speedway, and now with them in our region, it’ll only make the Northeast that much stronger and give even more credibility to FASTRAK”

“We understand that the fans, drivers, and promoters in many areas of the Northeast and East Coast aren’t that familiar with the name FASTRAK, and that’s why we holding this question and answer session,” added Emig. “We want to educate everyone on how the various pieces of FASTRAK works from the points, memberships, teching and all the opportunities that come along with FASTRAK.”

“The management of New Egypt is looking forward to the presentation, and FASTRAK’s involvement with their track, expressed Serrano. “Anyone that is interested in the FASTRAK Late Model Series needs to be at this meeting. We’ve had tons of calls inquiring about the Late Models, but some of the answers are best presented by Vicki and Mike. They are going to be at Motorsports and they have been extremely helpful in this building process.”

“I know other track promoters are interested in the series, but just aren’t sure and have many questions themselves,” continued Serrano. “The same can be said about drivers. We are also looking for authorized engine rebuilders. Those interested in becoming a part of FASTRAK should be at this meeting on that Friday (January 22) night.”

The 25th annual Motorsports show will be held at the Greater Philadelphia Expo Center at Oaks. Following the FASTRAK seminar, Sweet will conduct a motorsports marketing roundtable free of charge to interested parties.

Lucas Oil Speedway

Wheatland, MO (Jan. 12th, 2010) - Officials with Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland, Missouri are pleased to announce that they have reached agreement with the ULMA (United Late Model Association) to sanction Weekly Late Model Racing once again at Lucas Oil Speedway in 2010 for the 4th consecutive season. ULMA recently announced the first major overhaul of their rules package since their inception, which not only allows the ULMA Steel Engines but it also has provisions for both the 602 and 604 Crate Engines and for the first time Show-Me/IMCA type engine packages will be added to the ULMA banner at all of their weekly sanctioned tracks. "We put several options on the table and we really think that the ULMA rules package will be the best option for us at this time as not only do we get a standard Late Model rule package at multiple area tracks but we get an organization that is passionate about keeping weekly Late Model Racing strong and is not afraid to enforce the rules."

The previous weight rule for ULMA cars was 2,450 pounds with car and driver after the race. The new weight rule is 2,350 pounds with car and driver for the ULMA Steel Engine, the GM 604 CRATE engine, and the Show-Me/IMCA type engine package; there are exceptions to this rule for competitors utilizing the 602 CRATE engine, these cars with driver must weigh 2,200 pounds. The weight of the car is not the only significant rules change for the coming season, as stated previously a third engine option has been added as the Show-Me™ or I.M.C.A.™ type spec motor will be allowed to race under the ULMA banner for the first time while being required to conform to ULMA body rules. For drivers utilizing the spec motor, a total of fifty pounds of weight must be added twelve inches on center in front of the engine plate; this specifically involves adding twenty-five pounds of weight on each upper frame tube. These cars will weigh 2,350 pounds. The tire rule for 2010 includes the Hoosier™ D-55 WRS-2 Spec Tire, or Hoosier™ D-55 WRS. The complete 2010 ULMA rules are available at www.ULMAracing.com. In 2009, the Show-Me type cars were allowed to run at Lucas Oil Speedway with the ULMA cars under Show-me Series rules but with the Open Carburetor allowed this year by the Show-Me Series, all cars will run under the complete ULMA rule package at Lucas Oil Speedway. ULMA and Lucas Oil Speedway Officials will be on hand at the 12th Annual Bodee's Racer's Auction and Trade Show on January 30th-31st in Sedalia, Missouri to field questions and assist drivers in completing membership forms.

In addition to announcing the affiliation with ULMA, Lucas Oil Speedway is proud to announce an increase in the Transport Graphics Late Model weekly purse by almost $1,400 setting up a $700 to win, $100 to start weekly Late Model program for 2010. The complete payout schedule will be posted shortly at www.LucasOilSpeedway.com. The end of Season Championship points fund also increases to a minimum of $2,000 to win the Season Championship in 2010 as full details will be released shortly. Not only will the Weekly Late Model races pay more in 2010 but fans will see more of them as the Speedway recently added three additional races with the Late Models bringing the total ULMA races to 15. "ULMA counts the top 15 finishes for the end of season points so this was a critical step to help the ULMA drivers that run at Lucas Oil Speedway compete for the ULMA Championship." stated Track GM Dan Robinson. Two of the added races are in conjunction with Special events as ULMA Late Models will race in support of the Lucas Oil ASCS Midwest Region Sprint Car race on May 1st and will also get a second shot with the Lucas Oil Sprint Bandits on June 19th. Base weight for open motor, aluminum block cars will be 2,300 pounds with UFo weight breaks and spoiler variances for steel block, spec and GM 525 motors. The feature winner will receive $3,000 with $300 for 24th position, according the 3 State Flyers minimum payoff.

The recent trend continues toward more regionalized Super Late Model tours that provide race teams more reasonable travel distances to events. Hesston Speedway provides a unique opportunity for this cross-sanction due to its location on the outside edge of the zone of each of these regional tour. Super Late Model fans will be able to see the best drivers from the West PA-OH-WV and Central PA-MD-VA regions come together for this double invasion of power.

The UFo Race Championship Tour is proudly sponsored by Hoosier Tire Mid-Atlantic and Lias Tire/American Racer. 100% of their sponsorship will be given to the top point standing drivers in prize money and awards. Shady Oaks Speedway to kick off 2010 season with four-race Winter Series.

By J M Hallas

Goliad, Tx.,(Jan. 11th, 2010) After a season of highs and lows, Goliad’s Shady Oaks Speedway looks to start 2010 with a bang, holding a four-race Winter Series on the 3/8 mile, semi-banked, clay oval. Two races are scheduled for January(16th, 30th), with two more events in February(20th, 27th).

After several years of dormancy The Scribellito family, from California, took over the helm of the nostalgic track, just north of Goliad, in 2008, with the grand opening in the spring of 2009. Early success among racers and fans, was dampened when track owner Jim Scribellito was seriously injured while participating in a grudge race driving his familiar #57 Dwarf Car. Wife and co- owner/promoter, Laurie stepped up and with help from Director of Competition, Brian McDevitt and crew, the track continued operation, with a huge benefit race to cap off the 2009 season drawing over 200 cars.

The opening race of the of the Winter Series will be hosted by special guest, Jim Scribellito, as he returns to the track after months of rehabilitation at a Houston hospital. The Modifieds and Limited Modifieds will headline the show, along with the Late Models, Super Stocks, Pure Stocks, Dwarf Cars and Farm Trucks.

In order to avoid the nightly winter chill, racing will start at 2:00PM, with pit gates opening at 12:00 and spectator stands available at 1:00pm. Modifieds will run under IMCA/UMP rules with $500 to win, while Limited Modifieds will use IMCA rules and run for $400 going to the winner. All other classes will run under "track" rules and race for the regular weekly purse.(Ex. Farm Trucks) Point’s champions in all classes will be crowned at the end of the series.

PPMS Releases 2010 Tentative Schedule

Officials of Miley Motor Sports have assembled an exciting 2010 schedule of events for Pittsburgh's PA Motor Speedway. The 2010 "Total Special Event" schedule features championship racing events or exciting fan promotions on virtually every event.

The season will kick off with an open practice on Saturday, March 27 followed by the the "2010 Blastoff" season opener on Saturday, April 3. Weekly Saturday night racing in 2010 will feature the Super Late Models, Semi-Lates (formerly Pro-Lates), E-mods, Cadets (formerly Sportsman), Hobby (formerly Factory Stock) and Young Gun Classes.

Rules for all classes have been posted for the upcoming season on the track website and are highly compatible with other area track's rules. Officials are very excited about the new GM 525 motor option for Super Late Models. Race teams will be able to compete in the Super Late Model class for approximately $9,000 in motor costs. The Spec motor program has been a key to keeping the Super Late Model division on track at PPMS, and the even lower cost GM 525 motor should continue that trend well into the future by allowing more race teams to remain in the class long-term.

Headlining the 2010 schedule are 4 UFo Race Championship events. PPMS will continue to operate as the home-base track of the UFo tour. The "Red Miley 53" will take place on Saturday, May 15, with the "F-2" Shockwave on Saturday, July 24 and the "PENNational" on Saturday, August 28. The annual "Pittsburgher/Ultimate" is scheduled for the traditional 3rd weekend in September. 3 of those events will be co-sanctioned with the United Late Model Series from the Northern Tier of Pennsylvania including "The Pittsburgher." The 2009 UFo events at PPMS produced some of the most exciting racing in the track's history.

The BRP Tour for Big Block Modifieds return on Saturday, May 29 for "Modisaurus-X." This event will be an open wheel bonanza with the UEMS/TSMA E-mods also in competiton for a championship race. A full racing program including the Super Late Models will round out the racing program.

The 410 Super Sprints will invade PPMS on Saturday, July 10 for the "Flight of the Phoenix." The winged warriors produce incredible speeds on the Monster Half-Mile, unlike anywhere else. This program will also feature all divisions including Super Late Models.

At least 2 championship, extra-distance events have been scheduled for the Semi-Lates, E-mods, Cadets, Hobby & Young Gun divisions during the regular racing season, in addition to "The Pittsburgher/Ultimate." The "Semi-Late Grand Prix" is scheduled for June 12 with the annual "Jook George Championship" on August 14. The E-mods will take part in the UEMS/TSMA face-off as part of "Modisaurus-X" on May 29 with the "E-mod Tri-State Challenge" on August 7. The "Cadet Frenzoid" will take place on April 24 with the "Cadet Thunder Run" scheduled for Labor Day weekend, September 4. The Hobby & Young Gun divisions will compete in their "Spring & Fall Trophy Championships" on April 17 and September 11.

Free grandstand admission will also return to PPMS in 2010. On designated nights, the residents of all surrounding counties, West Virginia and Ohio will be admitted to the grandstands for free.

The Wacky Wheels Figure-8 class will also be returning to PPMS in 2010 for 4 events. This 4-cylinder, strictly stock class provides daredevil drivers a very low-cost way to compete at PPMS.

The season will come to a summit on September 16-17-18 with the 22nd annual "Pittsburgher/Ultimate." The UFo Super Late Models co-sanctioned by ULMS will headline the weekend's events. The new 2009 format produced the most amazing "Pittsburgher" ever and an equally outstanding "Ultimate." Bart Hartman passed a total of 28 cars in the feature events to sweep the twin 51-lap races, carrying home the biggest prize ever paid at PPMS. The Semi-Lates, UEMS/TSMA E-mods and Cadets will compete in companion Super Championship events along with the Hobby & Young Gun divisions.

Before the 2008 and 2009 racing seasons, Miley Motor Sports has added new clay to the Monster Half-Mile as well as reconfigure the track banking. The result has been top-to-bottom, 3 and 4 wide racing on the 100 foot wide surface. The past off season is no exception, as even more new clay was hauled in to continue the excellent competition at PPMS.

Pittsburgh's PA Motor Speedway is located just west of Pittsburgher off US 22/30 at the Noblestown Exit. Complete track information may be obtained at the track website. More information can also be obtained by calling 412-279-7223 weekdays.

Jack Sullivan Begins New Era in GRT House Car

Greenbriar, Arkansas (01/08/10) – Veteran racer, Jack Sullivan, has been well traveled and experienced over the first ten years of his racing career, but as the Greenbriar, Arkansas driver enters his eleventh year of competition, he will be embarking on a completely new era as the pilot of the Team GRT House Car.

In the racing world deals come about in a wide variety of circumstances, but for Sullivan the events that led to him being named the top GRT chauffer were a bit ironic. “Joe (Garrison) and I had a running joke for a while that I should drive the house car, and then one day he called me and said let’s make this happen. I didn’t know at first if he was still joking or not, but I realized pretty quick that this was the real deal and that I needed to take advantage of it,” notes Sullivan. “I’ve been indirectly involved with the GRT program for several years now, and I’ve driven and tested the house car on a few occasions, but to actually be the true ‘house car driver’ is a bit surreal”.

A variety of driver’s have driven the GRT House Car over the past few years with Wendell Wallace and Clint Smith most recently behind the wheel. Sullivan feels that for Joe it might be an easier working relationship than what he has had with some veteran drivers, and he comments “Sometimes with the veteran drivers they are set in their ways and not always open to new ideas or setups because they know from their experience what does and doesn’t work for them. For me, I realize that I still have a lot to learn, and I’m usually pretty receptive to trying new things and suggestions from people, who have as much experience and knowledge as Joe.”

With the #1 Triple A Diesel/Bryant Motorsports/GRT team en route to Arizona for their first events together this weekend during the USA Raceway (Tuscon, Arizona) Wild West Shootout, the question was posed to Sullivan on how prepared he felt that the team was for the start of the season, and his response was what you would expect from a new team with a lot of unknowns.

“Our team is probably batting about 70% right now. We still don’t have the trailer completely outfitted, and we really only have one car built right now. I’ve got some new crew members working with me this year, and we’ve all just got to get used to working together. More than anything we just need some track time to learn what does and doesn’t work for us, and that’s the beauty of this Arizona deal because you get to race six times in about a week, and get to try a lot of different things under consistent track conditions.”

While he did compete in some Super Late Model events in 2009, Jack spent much of the season behind the wheel of his Open Wheel Modified competing with the USMTS Open Wheel Modified tour. Sullivan feels that this is something that he will have to work out of his system early this season in order to be successful in the Super Late Model. He comments “Super Late Models and Open Wheel Modifieds are two such totally different driving styles that getting comfortable in one can result in you really struggling in the other. That’s the main reason that I probably won’t compete in any Open Wheel Modified shows this year, so that I can put all of my focus into honing my skills and driving technique in the Super Late Model.”

Sullivan also recognizes that the tire game will be a big part of the learning curve for the 2010 season. Over the past few years and for much of his career, he has been accustomed to running primarily events on hard compound tires. However, this year he will be entering a lot of events with open tire rules, and he feels that this will be his biggest challenge. “It’s such a different game, when you have unlimited compounds to choose from. You really have to be able to read the track, and know what to use when. I have no doubt that we can get a firm grip on the tire game, but once again, it’s just going to take track time and experience.”

As far as the team’s plans for the year, they really aren’t committing to be at any certain place. Sullivan recognizes that you have to crawl before you can walk, and he wants to take time to do things right with the new team.

“After Arizona, we’ll just be hitting and missing some various shows to start the year. We really need to get the rest of our equipment ready to go. I won’t say that we 100% won’t be going to Florida for any of the Speedweek shows in February, but right now it just doesn’t make sense for us to go down there. Those events are so tough on equipment and burn up so many resources that at this point, I would just rather not go and instead use that time to prepare for the season. We need to hone our skills in our own backyard before we try to conquer the world. I hope to fully get this program to where we want it to be within the next year or so and then evaluate running a tour. That’s definitely our ultimate goal!”

As far as goals for the first season, Jack is being realistic, while at the same time setting as high expectations as possible for himself and the team. “Early in the season the learning curve is no doubt going to be pretty steep for us, but if by the second half of the season we can unload anywhere and be confident about the team and the setup, I will consider the season to be a success. We are focused on making shows and running consistently in the top ten. If we do this, then the wins will come.”

Despite facing all of the hardships and challenges that come with starting a new team, Jack Sullivan is extremely confident and excited about the upcoming season. “We have such an awesome combination here between many of my pre-existing sponsors and the new ones that have come on board. I’m excited and honored to have Bryant Motorsports fully supporting me for another season, and to welcome Triple A Diesel on board as a title sponsor is really something special. Joe Garrison and everyone at GRT Race Cars have stepped up to offer me the opportunity of a lifetime, and I fully intend to use my performances on the track to repay them ten-fold.”

Jack Sullivan would like to thank all of his sponsors including Triple A Diesel, Bryant Motorsports, GRT Race Cars, Central Arkansas Pest Services, Rinehart Trucking, Merrill Bonding Co., Vic Hill Racing Engines, JFR Graphics, Xtreme Suspension Technology, AFCO Radiators, Allstar Performance, ATL Fuel Cells, Brinn Transmissions, BSB Manufacturing, ButlerBuilt Safety Equipment, CV Products, Delph Communications, Frankland Rear Ends, Goodridge Hose & Fittings, GRT Fab, Hoosier Racing Tire, Hypercoils, Joe's Racing Products, K-B Carburetors, Out-Pace Racing Products, Penske Shocks, Performance Bodies, Performance Powder Coating, Peterson Fluid Systems, QuarterMaster, QuickCar, R2C Air Filters, Sweet Mfg., MSRMafia.com, Trick Race Parts, Turbo Start Batteries, Wiles Driveshafts, and Wilwood Engineering.

In the next week, Sullivan’s website will be redesigned by MSRMafia.com to reflect his new team. In the meantime for more information on Jack Sullivan, please visit his official internet home at www.JackSullivanRacing.com .

United Late Model Association (ULMA) Unveils 2010 Competition Rules!

By Sam Stoecklin Media Relations Moberly, MO January 7, 2010

Although it is hard to believe, four years have passed since ULMA first made its debut in the late model racing world. The association was born of determination and passion by race enthusiasts focused on returning late models to area tracks on a weekly basis. From the onset it was evident initial meeting attendees were concerned with the status of weekly late model racing. While the process of forming the association was not without its difficulties, eventually, a unified set of competition rules were drafted for area tracks to utilize for their late model race programs. This allowed drivers to focus on actual racing rather than worrying about different rules from track to track. ULMA has remained clear, concise, and consistent regarding its rules with few changes over the years; however, for the coming season the association’s competition rules package will receive its first major overhaul.

When racing resumes, ULMA drivers will compete under a new weight rule. The association’s board of directors randomly conducted in-person opinion polls and utilized email to collect driver feedback. Since the end of last season, board members have diligently worked to address concerns and incorporate valued driver feedback into the new rules package. Much of the feedback collected concerned the weight of ULMA cars and the safety of competition with regards to increasing race speeds and a seemingly endless supply of technology, which continues evolving the world of late model racing. It is evident that cars need to weigh less and for additional rules to be adjusted accordingly if ULMA is to grow and prosper in the coming years. The previous weight rule of 2,450 pounds with car and driver was the standard of limited style late model racing within the ULMA-sanctioning area for many years. The new weight rule is 2,350 pounds with car and driver; there are exceptions to this rule for competitors utilizing the 602 CRATE motor engine, these cars with driver must weigh 2,200 pounds.

The weight of the car is not the only significant rules change for the coming season as ULMA attempts to keep late model racing as united as possible. A third engine option has been added to include other types of non-super late model participants. In addition to the already-in-place option for cars with all steel engines and the 602/604 CRATE motors to compete, a new spec-type motor will be permitted this season. The ruling allows competitors who normally race with the Show-Me™ or I.M.C.A.™ type spec motor to race under the ULMA banner. Increasing car counts for track promoters and event organizers is an important factor ULMA must address and the board feels it is moving in the right direction for this to transpire. Complete 2010 ULMA rules are readily available at www.ulmaracing.com. The rules have been sent electronically using the ULMA driver member group, this email group consists of drivers that have provided an email address to the association. Anyone wishing to join the group may send a request to unitedlatemodelassociation@hotmail.com.

For the fourth-consecutive year, ULMA drivers will compete on Friday nights at Callaway Raceway in Fulton, Missouri and Saturday nights at Central Missouri Speedway (CMS) in Warrensburg, Missouri. Fans and drivers can visit Callaway’s Web site at www.callawayraceways.com; the track’s 2010 schedule is forthcoming. The CMS Web site is www.centralmissourispeedway.net; the 2010 schedule for CMS is now posted. ULMA will make further exciting announcements regarding track affiliation and events in the coming weeks leading up to the roar of engines. Everyone at ULMA is thankful for the cooperation of Callaway Raceway and CMS regarding the new rules package and for affiliating with the association for 2010.

The board of directors is highly anticipating the 2010 race season. Last year ended on a positive note as car counts at two affiliated tracks averaged twenty, up from the mid to lower teens from previous years. Not only were car counts significantly higher for these tracks, the level of competition witnessed by the fans was absolutely fierce. A total of seventeen different drivers visited victory lane in fifty-nine sanctioned events. With the inclusion of the new engine option and lightening of the cars, ULMA’s vision of late model racing being united is taking shape quite nicely. The Board of Directors for 2010 includes President Kevin Coyne, Vice President Tony Wineland, Secretary Danny Lorton, Advisor Russell Kueffer, and Media Relations Sam Stoecklin. Contact information for board members is available on the official Web site. Board members will be on hand at the Twelfth Annual Bodee’s Racer’s Auction and Trade Show on January 30/31 in Sedalia, Missouri to field questions and assist drivers in completing membership forms.

After a close battle for the title in 2009, it is uncertain at press time if defending champion Kevin Kaiser will return to defend his title. The Cole Camp, Missouri driver announced his retirement from racing at the conclusion of last year’s season; however, there are rumblings that Kaiser may once again compete this season. The first driver to send notice he is seeking the ULMA crown by sending in his membership for 2010 was Jon Binning. The Warrensburg driver has finished no worse than third in association standings the last two years. He has ten sanctioned victories in a short time behind the wheel of a late model and will no doubt be a serious contender for the 2010 crown. Member drivers earn points throughout the season by keeping their fifteen best finishes of the year to count towards their championship point total.

Drivers will be pleased to learn ULMA membership is once again just $50 for the entire season! Membership fees go directly to the ULMA point fund. Fans, friends, and family members may also help the points fund by becoming ULMA affiliate members for just $10. More information regarding ULMA membership is available on the official Web site along with membership forms. Membership is always available on site at participating ULMA tracks and events during the season. The association is seeking business partners for the coming season; businesses seeking involvement in the exciting realm of auto racing may contact the association via the official Web site or by emailing ULMA. There are numerous opportunities for business partnerships.

FIVE DIVISIONS, SEVEN CHAMPIONS AT BEDFORD'S '09 BANQUET

By Dave Harclerode

BEDFORD, PA – The Bedford Speedway concluded its 73rd season with the annual Awards Banquet on December 5th, at the Bedford Elks Country Club. Although only five divisions compete for points at the speedway, seven champions were crowned because two divisions ended the points chase in a tie. An estimated 300 race fans, track employees, drivers and families packed the banquet hall, and all in attendance would agree the highlight of the evening had nothing to do with points or awards. Mary Ann Keifer, wife of promoter JR Keifer, made her first public appearance since suffering near fatal injuries in an August 9th motorcycle crash. Mary Ann was seated at the head of the track employees table near the entrance to the banquet hall to allow people easier access to speak with her. Not a minute passed that someone wasn't speaking with her, most in awe of her testament to courage and great attitude despite her permanent injuries.

Jack Pencil won his 5th career Super Late Model track championship, tying the legendary Tom Peck for most all-time championships in the division at Bedford. Pencil also owns two semi-late championships from the nineties. With all divisions combined, Jack's seven championships is more than anyone in the history of the speedway. Quite a feat, but breaking and making records at Bedford is starting to become a regular occurrence for the Bedford Middle School math teacher and part time racer. Pencil is already the all-time feature winner at Bedford when combining wins in all divisions, and he's ranked third for all-time feature wins in the Super Late division with 25 wins, just 11 wins behind record holder Scott Haus. Pencil won 4 feature events this season, tying his personal best for Super Late Model wins per season. Only eight drivers found victory lane this year in the division, and only Jack Pencil and Steve Everhart (2 wins) made repeat trips. The Super Late Model division had an excellent season, with several big shows featuring drivers from across the country. Pencil was the most consistent throughout the season, taking the top spot over the 100 other drivers who earned points at the speedway. Hyndman, Pa's DJ Troutman put in a great bid for his first ever championship at Bedford, but fell short by a mere 45 points. Just 5 points back was 4 time point champ Scott Haus in third, Steve Everhart fourth, and Chuck Clise 5th. Alan Sagi, Jeff Rine, Scott Lebarron, DJ Myers, and Jeff Miller completed the top ten in points. Other division award winners were: Jeff Rine, Hard Luck Award; and Chuck Clise, Most Improved.

An odd occurrence happened in the Limited Late Model division, something that has never happened since the speedway starting keeping points 1966; two champions were crowned in the same division in the same season. Mike Duck and Tim Smith were tied for the top spot after the August 21st race, leaving fans thirsty for a great late season points shootout. Unfortunately, the final two point races of the season were rained out, and Bedford's management decided not to use a tie breaker and crown both drivers champions. At the banquet, promoter JR Keifer was very adamant that this was not a shared, or co-championship. He stated very emphatically that it was a dual championship, and each driver is the champion. Mike Duck had his most impressive season ever in the Limited Late division at Bedford. Mike, who has been winless in the division since 2000, picked up two feature wins, and was one of only two division drivers to win multiple features (Derek Byler also won 2). Duck was in the hunt for the championship all season long, but found himself 90 points out of first near the end of the season. The August 21st race was scheduled as double point night, and Duck had a strong run on what ended up being the final point race of the year. Mike earned exactly 90 points more than point leader Tim Smith, Jr., sending the championship into a tie. The Championship is Ducks first in the Limited Late Model division. He also has one from several years ago in the Hobby Stock division. Tim Smith also had a fine season. Consistency was Smith's game all year, and he hit full stride around mid-season when he picked up his one feature win on the season. Smith has been dominating the big Bedford oval for several years. This is his third championship, and he is the division's all-time feature winner with 23 wins. The remarkable thing is all of those wins have occurred since 2002. Many fans probably considered this an off year for the division veteran since he typically wins several times per season. An ultra competitive division, combined with the best Limited Late talent in the region and full fields of cars every week make those feature wins a little harder to come by. At Bedford, practically anybody in the starting lineup has the potential to win. However, Smith has always had the ability to prepare a wicked fast car, he has an excellent ability to read the track and choose the best lines, and he's always had the courage to run the high groove. It's that courage that Tim has shown over the years that has helped him garner a huge fan base, and its his experience and talent that has helped him win so many features. Brian Lesley finished second in his first full year at Bedford, and also picked up his first ever feature win in the process. Brian Lowery, Daniel Cornman, Allen Lemin, Derek Byler, Rick Singleton, Darrell Dick, Justin Kann, and Donnie Farlling completed the top ten in points. Matt Howsare won the Rookie of the Year award, Craig Perigo was handed the Hard Luck award, and Brian Lowery earned the Most Improved award.

The Street Stock division suffered the very same fate as the Limited Late Model division; a tie for the points lead with the last two races getting rained out. For the very same reason as the Limited Lates, two champions were crowned for the 2009 Street Stock Championship. Both Jim Sayler and Bob Jay are very familiar with winning championships and features. The championship marked the third one for Sayler in Bedford's Street Stock division. Jim was a force all season long. Four feature wins on the season gives him seventeen for his career, placing him 4th on the divisions all time win list. The only dim part of the entire season for Jim was a horrific, fiery crash that severely damaged his car and may have played a large part in keeping Jim from being the sole champion for the season. Bob Jay was tied with Sayler, and this championship is Jay's fifth Street Stock Championship at Bedford. He also won a Hobby Stock championship several years ago. Bob Jay proved that you don't have to win features to win championships, and not winning features is unfamiliar territory for this Everett native. In fact, this was Jay's first winless season since 2001. Just like Jack Pencil in the Late Models, Bob is accustomed to setting records. The five same division championships ties Pencil for that record. He's the Street Stock divisions all-time feature win leader with 22, and he holds the record for most feature wins in the Hobby Stock division. Darryl Whetstone, who has raced at Bedford on and off for over 40 years, nearly won his first ever Bedford championship. Whetstone led the points late in the season, but a terrible frontstretch crash involving several flips destroyed his car. Whetstone finished the season in a borrowed car, and lost the point lead on the final point race of the season. Division veteran Kerry Molovich finished third in points, with Chris Chamberlain, Donald Wyles, Brian Duffy, Jesse Snyder, Greg Hainsey, Bill Pluta, Jr., and Rookie of the Year award winner Zane Weicht rounding out the top ten in points. Darryl Whetstone received the Hard Luck Award, and Kerry Molovich earned the Most Improved Award.

There was no need to worry about a tie in the Hobby Stock points during the '09 season. Charlie Walter won 7 out of 9 features, and won his second career championship just one year after winning the first. Charlie showed signs of greatness when he won that first title last season, but nobody expected the total domination he displayed this season. In just three short years he has climbed into 5th on the Hobby Stock all-time win list. Fellow competitors may have cringed at the banquet when Charlie announced his 2010 plans are to remain in the same division. If anyone can give him a run for the points title in '10, second place points finisher Bill Replogle would be a good bet. Replogle keeps his Pork Sell owned stocker in the hunt week after week, and its only a matter of time until their race team finds that extra little zing to put the car in victory lane on a regular basis. Rookie of the Year award winner Lou Wannyn took home the third place points trophy after a very impressive first season at the often tough to tame speedway. Second generation driver Tyler Ritchey finished fourth, and division veteran Terry Norris finished fifth in points after missing several seasons. The rest of the top ten point getters were Ryan Beckett, Travis Group, Jarrod Brown, Rick Potter, and Reed Stickel, Jr. Donnie Imler went home with the Hard Luck award, and young Tyler Ritchey won the Most Improved award.

Mike Lauffer had a record setting year in the front wheel drive 4 cylinder division. Lauffer won his second consecutive championship, the first in his division to accomplish this feat. He also surpassed Darrell Schimmel as the all-time 4 cylinder feature winner, which includes all of the various forms of 4 cylinder classes over the years. Mike doubled his career win total this season by winning 5 out of 9 feature events. Mike won this year's championship by nearly 200 points over second place winner Joe Means. The rest of the points rundown went to Ed Vogel, Paul Crynock, Jr., Bill Noll in fifth, Davey Lambert, Juan Ryan, Cindy Rhodes, Paul Crynock III, and Jeff Treece in tenth. There were 34 different drivers at the speedway in the '09 season, proving the cost effective division is gaining popularity with race drivers. Kevin See won the Rookie of the Year honors, Davey Lambert was given the Hard Luck award, and Paul Crynock, Jr. earned the Most Improved award.

Various non-point championship awards were also handed out at the banquet. Donald Wyles and Bob Jay won the Auto Racing Club of Hagerstown (ARCH) Sportsmanship Award, and Ray Shepherd and Derek Byler earned the Perseverance award. Super Late Model driver Wayne Johnson was given a life time free pass and a plaque for being added to the Legends of Bedford Speedway list. Jack Pencil won the Buzz award, and Denny Claar and Charlie Walter Sr. won the Lifetime Achievement award, which included a plaque and a lifetime pass to the speedway for their consistent help with equipment, tools, and anything else needed to help the speedway.

The Bedford Speedway will be releasing the 2010 schedule very soon. Another season of great racing with many special shows will fill the schedule, and it will all get underway on April 16th. The following week will be the first big show of the year, when the Lucas Oil Late Models return for a third year to race for $10,000 to win.

ULMS/UEMS

The 10th Anniversary season for the ULMS Racing Series is being put together and the first tentative schedule is being released with more pending dates still being worked on for both the Northern Tier Inc ULMS Late Model Series and the Kinzua Water Service United Emod Series. We expect at least four more ULMS dates to be added to the schedule and possibly five more UEMS Emod dates to be added by time the schedule is finalized in mid February.

"I am very pleased with how our schedule is coming together for this year for both series, commented ULMS Director, Chris Zuver." Labor Day weekend will see the UEMS teams back for the annual Tri City Speedway Labor Day Classic with a pair of $1000 to win events. The following weekend UEMS will be at Stateline for a two day event featuring two separate shows. UEMS will join the ULMS Late Models at Pittsburgh for the Pittsburgher weekend with new race event details to be announced. ROARING KNOB MOTORSPORTS COMPLEX OFFICIAL NEWS RELEASE

MARKLEYSBURG, PA (1-5-10) - After trying unsuccessfully for over a year to sell the racetrack property, equipment and business, the ownership group felt it was imperative to make their plans for the facility in 2010 known. The current ownership group, Roaring Knob Motorsports Complex, LLC will cease to operate effective immediately.

Speaking for RKMC, Managing Partner Ron Brutt made this statement:

"We regret that we could not find a successful party to buy and operate the racetrack in 2010 and beyond. We realize that plans and schedules must be made, thus prolonging an announcement would not be in the best interest of anyone. We will continue to search for a buyer; until that happens, the racetrack will be shuttered. We want to thank our many loyal racers, fans, employees, sponsors and vendors for their support the past seven years. Our goal when we started this venture was to build a first-class race entertainment facility for fans and competitors alike, then eventually turn it over to another party to continue its growth into the future. We have accomplished what we set out to do, and more; now we must find that right party to continue on with it."

Interested parties can contact Ron Brutt at his business office 412-771-0124, or any of the investor partners for details in purchasing. Any change in the status of the racetrack will be announced promptly on the website www.roaringknob.com which will be kept active.

Southern All Star Racing Series Amends Tire Rules

Woodruff, SC - The 2010 Southern All Stars Racing Series Golden Isles season-opening Super Bowl is rapidly approaching. In advance of the new season the Series will be addressing a growing problem in dirt late model racing. The issue of tire treatments has become the hot topic throughout the dirt racing community. Concerns over the health hazard and threat to ground water have raised this issue to number one on the Series’ tech agenda. In an effort to curb the use of ANY chemical alteration of tire compound the series has amended their tire rule for 2010 and beyond. In the past the Series has only strongly cautioned against the use of these agents however they are adopting a hard-line approach for the future.

“After much discussion with our racers and promoters as well as the input of Hoosier Tire Corporation we feel like we need to take the initiative to help eradicate the use of all chemical treatments and/or softeners. This has really become an issue of the safety and health or our fans, drivers, crews and officials. We want to send a message that we are serious about this subject and that we will not tolerate the use of these dangerous chemicals at our events.” said Southern All Star Racing Series Director of Competition Kelley Carlton. “We will be making further announcements regarding penalties and enforcement in the coming days but we wanted to get the information out to the racers well in advance of our first event.”

The 2010 Southern All Stars Rulebook will reflect the following under the TIRE RULE Section:

TIRE RULE

Hoosier Racing Tires Only

All Compounds are allowed

Grooving, Needling and Siping are allowed

Chemical alterations of tires is strictly prohibited. No tire softeners or conditioners which alter the chemical compound of the tire will be permitted. This includes, but is not limited to, tire soaking, internal applications or the use of tread softeners. This will be strictly enforced.
