  • Perris Auto Speedway CA)Dave Darland is one of the all-time greats in the sport of sprint car racing. Earlier this year he passed Tom Bigelow to become the all-time leading winner in the USAC National Championship Series and his victory total now stands at 53. Only three of those wins have come at Perris Auto Speedway. However, all three of them wins were in the A Main at the Oval Nationals and netted the personable driver $75,000.00. Narrowly missing a lock-in position on his qualifying night, the Knoxville, Iowa driver charged from 12th to fourth in the finale.   • IRMA)The Indiana Racing Memorial Association (IRMA) invites the public to attend the dedication of a historical marker commemorating the life of Shelbyville native and three-time Indy 500 winner Wilbur Shaw Saturday at 10 a.m. near the grandstands of the Shelby County Fairgrounds, 500 Frank Street in Shelbyville. The famous Shaw Maserati from the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Hall of Fame Museum will be on display at the marker's unveiling, which is free of charge. Press Releases10/29

  • Susquehanna Speedway Park PA)On Saturday afternoon, November 15, the Susquehanna Speedway Park will host The Final Showdown for the Super (410) Sprint Cars in the Central PA area as well as the entire United States for 2014. Also included in this special program will be the popular 358 Sprint Cars. The raindate will be Sunday, November 16. At the last 410 Sprint Car race in August, the Fishers announced that the winner of The Final Showdown” 410 Sprint Car winner will receive $10,060 to commemorate the tracks 60 years of racing, making it the highest paying race ever held at SSP in its 60 year history. The club named its new President Bill Gallagher and Vice-President Robbie Stillwaggon. In 2015 the board members will be Mark Bitner, Rick Weller, Jamie Bodo, Dave Betts, Kenny Eldreth, Jeff Fithian, Billy Gallagher and Curt Michael. Mimi Caruso will be secretary and Billy Gallagher was named treasurer and Handicapper. Billy will have the books available at every club meeting. Racing from the fifth starting position, the 19-year-old from Norman, OK, slid past West Memphis shoe A.G. When all was said and done the Inaugural Open Wheel Champion in the Renegade Sprints was Hartford, Ohio's Dale Blaney who brought home the $15,000 winner's share of the $115,000 purse in the 410 sprint main. Robert "Madman" Ballou, Rocklin, California claimed the non-winged portion of the program, while K-C Burdette, Parkersburg, WV brought home the win with a clean-sweep in the modified feature.   • Kraig Kinser)Quite a bit had changed since the last time that Kraig Kinser and his fellow World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series competitors raced at Port Royal Speedway in Pennsylvania.   • ARDC)It was the final race of the season for the American Racing Drivers Club (ARDC) as the wingless midgets competed as just one of the five divisions in the final Thunder on the Hill event of 2014 at the Grandview Speedway. Steven Drevicki had already clinched the 2014 ARDC Championship prior to the final event. With the title in hand, Drevicki was now free to race on the final night and not be concerned about points.   • Trophy Cup)The script has always been one in which a dramatic climb forwards from the back of the pack results in a driver becoming Trophy Cup champion, usually starting from the last 2 or 3 rows. Saturday night Willie Croft wrote his own script when the outside 3rd row starter not only won the 50 lap main event, but also became the event champion by virtue of having 7 points more then Mason Moore.   • Thunder On The Hill)The 114th race of the twenty-five year history of the NAPA Auto Parts Thunder on the Hill Racing Series played out Saturday night at the Grandview Speedway with the popular House of Thunder Halloween Party and the Grandview Thunder 5-25’s, a features only event. Jeff Strunk collected $3,000 for winning the 358 NASCAR Modified feature as Jared Umbenhauer took the win the Sportsman feature.   • Millstream Speedway OH)The owners of the shuttered Millstream Speedway say the half-mile clay oval will reopen in the spring. Owners Greg and Mary Beth Roe today said they have a three-year agreement with racing enthusiasts Randy and Lisa Hammer of Fremont to return motor racing to the track northwest of Findlay. Millstream Speedway has been closed for three years. The Hammers did not disclose a schedule for 2015. But they said their strategy is “to include different forms of motorsports, local community participation on the grounds, and reaching out to local charities and non-profit organizations that can be helped by the racing community.” 10/18

  • DARF)Tuesday October 28, 2014 the Dayton Auto Race Fan (DARF) Club Wally Scherer/Injured Drivers and Benevolent Fund Auction will be held at Celebrations Banquet Center, 3119 Stop Eight Road, Dayton, OH. This event provides the funds that allow the Club to help injured drivers, track officials, and crew members in their time of need.
