The entire 2014 season for 18-year-old Eric Riggins Jr. has been a story of “coulda, woulda, shoulda”. Saturday night, after many close calls and missed opportunities, the home state favorite got it done. Riggins, from nearby Charlotte, North Carolina, slipped around K&N Filters Pole Position starter Lance Moss on lap six of Saturday’s United Sprint Car Series presented by K&N Filters “Sprint Car Wars” 30-lap A-main at Harris Speedway and powered away from the field. Riggins sliced through lapped traffic in a caution-free feature event en route to his first www.rockauto.com USCS victory lane stop since October of 2013 at Cherokee Speedway. The win was Riggins’ sixth career USCS feature victory and the fifth for the Carolina-area racer in front of his home state fans.

Say What!

"Jackson, Minn. - this place is awesome. I haven't been here before, but it's definitely in my top-five places to be ever. I can't wait to come back,The track was super heavy and fast and you really had to cowboy up. It was really fun battling with the lapped cars, but I'd really like to come back when this place is slicked up." Matt Covington winning the ASCS Jackson Nationals

“Man, let me tell you, last Saturday (our car owner) pulled the car that we won the two most recent USCS pavement races (at Anderson, S.C.) with and we didn’t even think we were going to be able to race this weekend, This crew though, they pulled this car, the “Silver Bullet” we call it, out of mothballs and put it together in four days – and look where we are now. This is unbelievable; it’s by far the biggest win of my career. Thanks to Atlanta Motor Speedway, the fans and the USCS for putting this show on. I don’t even know what to say. Wow.” Joey Aguilar winning USCS at Atlanta Motor Speedway GA

"It always feels good to win, Especially out here at a place we've not been so swell. Hats off to the whole STP team - these guys should be up here (on the podium). They're doing a phenomenal job. They give me a racecar every night that's capable of winning and it's done that. It's an awful fun position to be in." Donny Schatz winning at Skagit Speedway WA

“Anyone that knows me knows I’m not real comfortable on the cushion and I wasn’t really beating it down. There was enough there to keep up my momentum. I knew I could run the bottom…luckily I was good enough to get it done. We were fast out of the box tonight and that’s where we’ve been struggling at the beginning of the night. So hopefully if we can come out tomorrow like this…it makes your night a lot easier,” Danny Holtgraver winning Attica OH All Stars Friday

  • Wilmot Raceway WI)The Wilmot Raceway is announcing their intent to add a new "Sprint Car" class for the 2015 race season. It is a "'entry level" non-wing sprint class which will likely utilize the GM Crate 604 engine (w/ a spec alcohol carb), and run on the same Hoosier tires that the IRA series runs on. To be clear, this class is a "entry level" weekly sprint class that will run for a purse fitting that description. We're not trying to mislead anyone with the intention of this class. Additionally it is NOT meant to compete with or take away from IRA, MSA, PDTR, or eliminate any of Wilmot's IRA or own 410 winged shows. Also, it is not meant to eliminate any current Wilmot regular division. We have been approached to create such a division by several racers from various racing backgrounds/divisions. And fact is Wilmot has the biggest sprint car fan base (those recent IRA Fair dates were HUGE), and sprint car history of any track in the area. In addition to competing on a regular basis at Wilmot, this class "could be" used as a support class for some non-Wilmot conflicting area IRA dates. We believe there is a niche for this type class at Wilmot. Details regarding specific rules will be announced shortly. 8/28

"After the last two weeks of our break from racing I have decided to retire from racing. I would like to still drive my midget at the Chili Bowl. I have been thinking a lot about this for the last three months. It has been a hard decision to make. I always knew when the time came to retire it would be clear. I've had a long and very successful career. Part of the reason for the timing now is I've spent the last two weekends with my son, Kevin, racing. I haven't had any time to spend with his racing the last four years. He will drive a (NASCAR) Nationwide car for the rest of the year and I want to be there to support him. I was going to do a limited schedule next year or retire at the end of this year. I've had a long talk with (Big Game Treestands Founder) Tod Quiring and we both agreed that this is the best for me. Amy and I would like to thank Tod and everyone at Big Game Treestands for the last four seasons. We would also like to thank everyone who has helped or been a part of my career, my fans and the friends that I have met over the last 43 years."  Sammy Swindell

  • Ken “Wags” Wagner reaches a tough decision and retires from collecting racer $$$$! It is with much regret that I announce my retirement in helping the low buck racers at every CRA race. That said, my 25 plus years in a quest to help them is done. I am retiring my Wagtimes efforts because it is time. It was an incredible ride and now I must say goodbye! My tough decision is due to a lot of important changes in my life, not the least of which is I don’t live near So Cal any more where my heart is, and will always be, with the CRA. It was a joy doing all the Wags stuff over the years, and looking back, I couldn’t have done anything more satisfying in my life, other than being married to Mrs Wags for 40 years. I don’t know how it all started, but our success was due to the great many “helpers” along the way. Thank you to all who got involved in the over $615,000 of Wagsbucks that “WE” collected and handed out to the racers. The biggest thanks go to the Wagtimer’s whose support was unending! I am very proud of what we accomplished and will cherish my friendships forever. Thank you……………………… see you along the racing trail! 8/20
